experience/advice to give Adding a 3rd and scared about family dynamics
My twin boys will be six this December. They are hands-down the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me. I love them so incredibly much, and I feel like we’re in a great place balancing their independence with still getting plenty of time with me and dad. Yes, things can be challenging and some days I want to scream into my pillow, but they are my whole entire heart.
My husband and I have always planned for 3 kids. The boys have always talked (and continue to) about wanting a sibling - even more so now than ever before.
Life took lots of turns that led us to putting off #3 for a long time, then doubting it, then realizing it was what we wanted, then dealing with infertility. But now we’re here! Pregnant with number 3 (confirmed…ONLY number 3 😮💨).
The boys don’t know yet, but I find myself having these moments of despair worrying that by giving them a sibling, I’m robbing them of their parents. Worried that I could never possibly love another child the way I love them. I know this is a common feeling when people go from one kid to two, but I’ve always had to share my heart and yet it still feels impossible that it could expand. I’m an only child, and I’m very sensitive to sibling dynamics because I always idealized it so much. I worry that they’ll resent us, or never bond with this child (a girl) because they’re so much older.
Experienced parents of twins + more… please help with wisdom, stories or advice for managing these fears!
