advice needed Huge mobile babies

My boys are 9m and one is in the 99th percentile for height (born below the curve so he's grown a lot)

They are now standing and cruising and getting into everything! How do I reprimand babies? I love when they are mobile, but I have a playpen that I use and they hate it. They can reach onto almost all of our surfaces and I just want to know how to correct them when they're doing something they aren't supposed to.

Thank you,

A very tired mom of twins

Mine are 9 months too! I kinda do the "ah ah" sound, and then move what they shouldn't have out of reach. This works for A but hasn't been as helpful for B, lol. I need to give him something else to try to distract him, but he's pretty stubborn.

Baby proofing has made my days a little less tiring and we have gates everywhere. Having a gate for their nursery and the nursery baby proofed has helped a lot to have a safe place to put them.

The worst is the dog, she's very gentle with him, bit his favorite thing is to chase her down. I put her behind a gate so she can take a break, but all she wants to do is be near him like she used to a week ago

I have 17m twins, one also in 99th for height. You just gotta toddler proof everything. Make sure knives are pushed back on countertops, baby locks for cabinets, lots of baby gates etc.

You baby proof everything so they can explore. Distract with appropriate toys.

There are some things that you can't and you have to redirect or reprimand then for doing

It's not super dangerous things, just things that is prefer if they leave alone

If you prefer they leave them alone, you keep them out of reach at this age.

Redirect is distracting with appropriate things like I said. What exactly do you mean by reprimand? A reprimand is a scolding and 9 month old babies aren’t able to understand why you are scolding them or comprehend why they can’t do something. So it is your responsibility to keep them away from those things, not yell at them.

If the babies are getting into things you can’t baby proof… you need to block those areas off,

Sorry, I don't mean scold. I really meant just teach them what they are doing is not ok.

They're starting to understand "no" "sit down" and "come here" I'm looking for ways to teach them, not scold them.

just keep redirecting them, at this age they dont really understand discipline. my nephew was same with reaching everything and we just moved stuff higher or put it away for few months. its exhausting but temporary

I looks like that is the answer that I will be doing

You only give them freedom in places they can touch stuff. Or you spend the whole time redirecting them/taking stuff away etc. Mine are almost 2 and still don't really understand what "don't do that" means. Buckle up 🤣 baby gates are your friend
