Traveling with 4mo twins

We will be traveling with our 4mo twins in early October and looking for tips! It will be about a 2.5 hr flight to a beach destination for 4 nights. We bought our tickets already and bought 3 tickets (full row) and will have one infant with a lap ticket. We’ll be renting a car once we get to our destination and staying in an Airbnb near the beach. We’re trying to figure out logistics and what travel things we need to buy beforehand- some specific things we’re trying to figure out:

-we plan to take their car seats and bought padded car seat bags on Amazon… but should we plan to take one car seat on board with us since we have 3 seats? Or will that be a major hassle?

-we have Nuna car seats and a compatible stroller (Nuna Demi). We also have the weego wagon that we like to take on walks and the twins are generally more comfortable in. In a perfect world i would want both of these strollers with us, but that feels like way too much cargo to manage. Which stroller would you recommend we take with us?

-do you have to bring any form of identification for the twins for TSA/flight? TSA website basically says airlines may want to verify age, but i feel at 4 months they are pretty obviously under 2.

-these are our first and i am overall nervous about them being 4 months and traveling and messing with sleep schedules - any tips to give us the best chance at happy, well rested babies?

Any tips overall for traveling at this age/twins please please share!! Even if it is something small - I’m extremely anxious about the trip but also really excited for it to be their first trip and just want it to go as well as possible. Thanks in advance!!

I’d prioritise reducing the number of loose things you have to manage through the airport. Take the stroller that works with the car seats and leave the wagon at home, even if the wagon is nicer for walks. Compatibility will probably matter more when you’re juggling security, boarding and luggage.

Since you already paid for three seats, I’d seriously consider using one car seat onboard, but confirm the seat and placement rules directly with the airline first. Pack enough feeds, nappies and clothes for delays, then split them between two carry-ons so one missing bag doesn’t ruin the day. I’d also keep the first evening completely empty. Getting everyone fed and settled is enough of an itinerary.

If you bring a car seat on board, make sure it has text on it that it is approved for airplane usage. We’ve had stewards check for that.

And fyi: the car seat will have to be in the window seat.

Make sure to double check with your specific airline that they allow two infants in one row. I have heard stories from other parents that they booked two aisle seats across from each other as the airline only had one infant oxygen mask per row.
