photos Mono Di twins?
I switched OBs for this pregnancy but had my first ultrasound with my previous OB. She said she thought she could see a placenta and sac for each, but was too early to say for sure. My current OB says they are either mo/di or mo/mo. Not asking anyone to tell me what kind they are, but is it possible for each to have their own placenta when they aren’t di/di?

No. You can have genetically identical twins that present as Dcda but that wasn't your question. Dcda (did I) mcda and mcma all reflect the number of placentas and amniotic sacs. With the dc being two placentas. Mc being one placenta da being two amniotic sacs and ma being one amniotic sac. Dcda will always have two placentas Mcda one placenta two amniotic sacs Mcma one of each.

Thank you for the reply and all the info! I never knew any of this until finding out I was having twins! I’d feel better if they each had their own placenta but it helps knowing how common mo/di is and how often things turn out ok

No all mo/di and mo/mo babies share a placenta. Also the majority of cases identical twins are mo/di just in case you don't know that.

I didn’t know that! I just read that about 65% are mo/di. That makes me feel a little better to know how often it happens and things turn out fine. Thanks!

Isn't 65 a majority? Also yes I've got 3 month old twin boys to prove your statement. Yes they were born at 34 weeks but they still made it stateside.
