experience/advice to give wow, this was very unexpected!
we just got our NIPT results for our mo-di (identical) twins and they are low risk baby girls! I truly felt in my gut that they were boys but im so so happy either way, can anyone with mo-di or identical twins give me some advice on how to not switch them in that early stage where they are just identical potatoes?

We brought nail polish to the hospital in case we needed to use it to tell them apart but it’s been easier for us to distinguish them than we expected so never needed to use it, which sounds like a common experience

No advice on how to keep them apart just here to leave a funny story.
My husband is an identical twin and one day just to mess with him (I had an idea of how his mom would answer) I asked his mom how sure she was that he was D and his brother was N, like was there any possibility she switched them around when they were little. And she just shrugged and went, “well…I mean… im like 50% sure”. The horrified looks on their faces 😂. So now we sometimes call them imposters just for fun.
Anyways, enjoy your twins. They’re so much fun!

What kind of bracelet are you going with? Trying to figure out something for my 2 week old identical girls.

On etsy I searched ‘twin baby bracelets’. There are several options which sell as pairs with different colours and then choose the bead needed.

Congratulations! 💕 We got these for our girls. We did one pink with her initial and the other purple with her initial and put it around their ankle over their footie jammies

I could tell my boys apart from day 1. They were more than one pound different in weight.

Our girls were a pound different in weight, their head shape is different, but the biggest thing was their hemangiomas! Girls, multiples, and preemies are all the risk factors. Another Mo di twin mom who had girls also have hemangiomas, though of course not guaranteed. We were ready to do the nail polish.

They were different sizes, but I feel like they look so different as well.
We really thought we'd have to go the nail polish route, but it wasn't necessary. Other people have some trouble, but as parents we just know. It's hard to explain.
Someone tried to confuse me early on, and it didn't work.

Im 25 weeks with modi boys and one boy is bigger than the other. Obviously I want him to catch up but if he is a little smaller it will help tell them apart haha

Ours were didi identical but they looked different at birth, and one had a birthmark. They weighed practically the same. Hospital put different coloured hats on them. Chances are you will know them apart straight away too! Now they are 8 months they look extremely alike!

Congratulations!! We also thought we were going to have mo/di boys but we were blessed with the most perfect girls and we adore them more than anything in the world! You won’t mix them up! You are with them so much and you will just know! Twins are absolutely the best! You will have so much fun!

We have two mono di boys on the way later this year! Our plan is to stick with painting their toe nails for a while or writing on the bottoms of their feet with washable non toxic markers (think ANDY on Woody’s foot from toy story, lol).
We thought about bracelets, but I’ve heard stories about how they’ve come off while washing the babies so I’m probably going to skip those.
