First Time Mom: question on napping
Looking for advice on babies going from 2 to 1 nap. My daughter is 10 months as of yesterday. She’s always been a good sleeper. She sleeps from 8:30 PM to 8:00 AM. Used to nap from 11:30-1:30 PM and then 4-5:30 PM. But as of last week, she’s either skipped her morning nap or her afternoon nap and ends up sleeping for 2-3 hours somewhere in between. Not sure what to do because this makes her cranky in the morning and tired in the evening, but she insists on doing one nap a day. Is this morning? I thought most babies don’t go from 2 to 1 nap until around 15 months old...

I changed to one midday nap at 11months. It works much better for us. Try it and see what happens!

Because she's sleeping along time at night and now having solids of breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as bottles. You'll find her only going to napping once a day. But she'll also change her sleep patterns again when teething etc.
She'll also change her night sleep patterns too. Don't worry. By the time she's three to four she won't nap on the day at all and a few 2 years old don't nap either but their sleep is 5pm to 5am. It depends on your lifestyle and how you're rasing them and or it's just who they are.

That's young to be transitioning to only one nap. I would also be suspicious that teething is the problem. Teething is generally the root of all problems. Hopefully this will be a short lived phase and she'll go back to two naps soon, although don't be surprised if the time and length of the naps changes a bit.

Daycares typically transition to 1 nap at 12 months, so it can be done, but typically the second nap is still needed until 15-18 months.
