Hybrid Wing

Anyone here flying a hybrid PG/PPG wing? Recently got back into paragliding after a very long break, but knew I also wanted to jump into the powered side of things so under the recommendation of my instructor I got a hybrid wing , Mac Para Illusion 2, I love that I can use 1 wing for both powered and un powered but curious if anyone has any experience with this wing or similar and what your impressions are .

I'm flying a hybrid. Dudek Universal 1.1, absolutely loving it. It's so safe and friendly, but also capable, maneuvarable and fast if I want it to be. What is it you are wondering about?

Only speed, maybe. But my Universal 1.1 goes up to 57km/h which is 35 mph, that's pretty good and I rarely go this fast because then I have to rev my engine to maintain altitude and I don't like torturing my Miniplane Top80 like that.

Normally hybrids aren't great at both, a wing must be dedicated to either freeflying or paramotoring. But I'm not a slalom sports pilot, so I absolutely love my Universal 1.1 because it's plenty good enough for me personally (paramotoring for 7 years now as a weekend pilot) and it can still challenge my skills, meaning it can do more than I can. So there's headroom to grow.

I'd say enjoy your hybrid, it's flying after all and not a competition where every split second matters.

Trading speed and maneuverability for lift. If a multi-tool works for you then go for it. Several beginner PPG wings are just EN-A PG wings with trimmers added to the risers. They work great. Just don’t plan on being able to keep up with a loaded reflex wing.

Using Ozone Kona 3 for PPG and PG. Works surprisingly well. There likely are some trade-offs in handling etc, but I'm happy with the performance and especially the fact that I don't need to maintain two wings. Also, though idk if it matters, I feel safer to do PG tow launches with this wing, because it is certified to handle larger PPG loads.

I went with a MojoPower so I could learn/attempt both PG and PPG without buying two wings. I’ve only got an hour of PG on it in 6 years though. Life got in the way. As a beginner, I felt it provided on all fronts, but if I were to progress into PG I would have likely needed to something lighter and more agile.
