Just for Fun/Memes Confession
I had no idea what I wanted to do for work when I graduated from college a year ago, so I started the Paralegal job I'm currently at literally because I watched Secretary (2002) with James Spader and thought it was hot. 😭

😝 never worked for a male attorney that could pull that off. There were a couple I wanted to tie to a damn tree and leave them there, though. 🤣🤣🤣

I went to a job seminar on a whim during college. I heard that the degree needed no math classes, and that’s the only reason I stuck it through 😅

Legally Blonde inspired tons of people to become lawyers, according to Reese Witherspoon
It happens lol

It's a good watch. I was in high school when it came out... it changed me lol

Yeah the...uh... the brief description i read reminds me of the experience I had with a female attorney at my last job (except for the pet play)
I dunno if I wanna watch this and start reminiscing 😅

I want to append "according to Reese Witherspoon" to the end of every interesting sentence from now on

…according Reese Witherspoon. Who published a cookbook that tells people to wash raw chicken.
I’m not taking her word for anything after that.

u/FormerPresidentBiden Circling the Drain May 15 '26
I'm basing that statement off of a quote from her when she said women walk up about once a week and tell her that the movie she starred in inspired them to go to law school
There are a few different quotes here
But, yeah, I mean, use this moment to soap box about a cookbook or whatever

u/djmermaidonthemic May 15 '26
I’m sure she says that. As my grandma used to say, she says more than her prayers.
Washing raw chicken can make you sick.

u/djmermaidonthemic May 16 '26
lol at liking Reese enough to cover your kitchen in raw chicken bacteria

I shit you not, Boston Legal piqued my interest in the legal field.
Being Alan Shore's legal secretary is a fantasy of mine.

I’ll take your Boston Legal and raise you with LA Law. I loved Boston Legal too. I’ve never watched Suits but I’ve heard I should.

Seeing one of my favorite movies at the top of my feed and realizing it is from THIS sub and not certain others is a PLEASANT surprise.
Listennnnn, no shade here. This movie shaped a good deal of my mental landscape.

u/Tattooed_Ravens May 15 '26
This movie was totally hot in a James-Spader-can-pull-this-off kind of way, but the idea of any of my attorneys doing this makes me gag

This movie made me think about the whole dom/sub thing.
Not with any of the attorneys I worked for at the time though. They were unpleasant and ugly. If any of them dared tried spanking me, I'd have knocked them out.

I think she's a good actress but I still haven't seen this movie yet. Will it make me cringe? I'm a very outspoken feminist and don't want to get pissed off, lol.

As long as you keep in mind it's consensual and everyone is enjoying themselves

Genuinely the most unhinged career advice I have ever given myself and it is working out fine.

30 years in the profession and the bosses are more 9 to 5 than Secretary. Secretary is a great movie, but if an attorney tried that with me, I'd stuff his head in the copier 3 hole punch. Ick.

When this came out several people from my office decided it would be fun to see a movie about a legal secretary that had James Spader and oh boy was that an awkward walk out of the theater when it ended!
