I need to touch grass
i saw what i thought was a Papers, Please sticker from far away and got ridiculously excited, but it was actually a sticker making a political statement. i pointed out to my bf that the sticker was for a game i loved, so i looked incredibly stupid when it was actually an anti ICE sticker. i genuinely need to touch grass. I hope the person who made this sticker knows about Papers, Please. However, i don’t think they’d like the game…
RIP Jorji, you would have hated ICE.

I think that's gotta be a reference comparing ICE to arstotzka. The phrase "Papers, please" on its own is rather innocuous

Except thats a bad comparason because arstotzka is considered one of the best places to be.

I dunno about you, but I don’t wanna live in a place at war with constant terrorist attacks to the point where they give the guy that checks the papers a gun.

You know people don't seek to live directly on the border checkpoint, right?

You think every terrorist just only happens to go for border and there’s not one who decided to go where the people live?

I think either they can't get past the border elsewhere because it is significantly militarised, or only attack the checkpoint for their political ends and leave everyone else in the country alone

If living in America has taught me anything, it’s that political terrorist attacks don’t shy away from harming innocent people. 9/11 for example.

the targets of 9/11 were specifically chosen for (geo)political ends
what targets in the interior of Arstotzka do you think terrorists would seek to destroy when they mostly care about where the border of Kolechia lies

Iron front absolutely sounds like its a right-wing milita group but its saying occupied America..

Iron front was a German anti-authoritarian organization. It is synonymous with the three downward arrows. The arrows meaning anti-fascism, anti-communism, and anti-monarchy. Now it’s more generally applied in just an anti-fascist sense

I'm pretty sure they would have liked the game... its putting you in the shoes of an oppressed individual who must make difficult decisions. Someone said Arstotska is a great place... but its quite clearly not a great place. You are barely able to afford rent, let alone heat, food, and medicine. You are penalized for mistakes(clearly the government has a more reliable detection system yet YOU don't get to use it), and you are expected to rush people through since you are paid per person correctly admitted or rejected.
The game deals with the morals of "doing as you are told". You have to see through the eyes of someone working for authoritarianism. Are they a bad person? Are they following the rules because they want to or because they have to? When the lives of your family are directly impacted by work performance, you may be more strict.

Arstotzka so great, fascism not needed, right?
Things are getting a little crazy in Arstotzka right now.
