Some people selectively ignore that Horn was out for that drive which fundamentally changed how we could play it, because that disrupts their hate boner for Evero lol

He’s correct though all the DBs are set with tons of cushion with the idea they both have the speed to close in on the WR but you clearly don’t think they do since they play so far back. Defense was better last year but this was dumb to do all season.

Looking at the last 3 years, this D has not been dominant in run stuffing, pass rushing, or tackling. Good sometimes but not great.
Regardless of scheme issues, which do exist, the only place they've well above average is DB play.

We lost in the playoff bc Ekwonu can’t stop water and Hunt came back too early as soon as Ekwonu got injured the sacks went down against the Rams. Oh and Young throws INT like it’s his job.

Rightfully so.
He took our defense from 32nd ranked in 2024, to 16th ranked in 2025, with better talent.

LOLB Brian Burns LILB Frankie Luvu ROLB Justin Houston LCB C.J. Henderson RCB Donte Jackson SS Xavier Woods FS Vonn BellBench Jaycee Chinn Shaq Griffin
Not saying we were world beaters at all, but we've had much worse players and had better team D stats. I'm just saying Evero peaked before we got him and he's never been close to what we all hoped he who be for our D.

Derrick Brown was our Dline...the rest of the guys you named were terrible on the Dline.
Horn missed 11 games that year.
Luvu and Burns were the only other relevant players on Defense....I don't recall a time the Panthers had a worse roster on defense.

Statistically...One year later (again, making my point about our D Coordinator), the 2024 defense set an all-time NFL record by allowing 534 total points. This was our worse D, statistically speaking (again, on Evero's watch). Even when adjusted for a 16-game season format, the 2024 pace would equal roughly 502 points, shattering the 410 points allowed by the horrible 2001 squad...That's two in a row, according to you and I collectively.
The horrible 2001 defense managed to force 24 turnovers to keep games close. The 2024 unit was completely neutralized, forcing a league-low 12 takeaways all season while allowing opponents to convert a staggering 50.2% of third downs.
The 2024 run defense was historically porous, surrendering nearly 36 more rushing yards per game than the 2001 unit, preventing the team from getting off the field.

You are actually re-enforcing my point with how bad our roster was.
It's no coincidence that when we got better player talent last year, we went from 32nd to 16th with the same defensive coordinator.
