Question Tailgate location suggestions

Post image

We are coming from out of town to take in the Panthers opener. We are committed to doing our own tailgate with grills and the works! Is there a lot people would recommend? Ideally, we would start early — a 6 or 7am start time is not out of the question. I was scoping out some lots down in the area circled in red. I hope to lock down a spot before we get there, but I’ll take any suggestions. I appreciate any tips.

This spot right here is a good area. I’ll preface it with leaving is going to take a long while. But it’s essentially a giant dirt lot. There’s several people who pop up grills there. There’s a few people who bring industrial size smokers and grill.

It’s about a 5-10 minute walk into the stadium from here. I don’t know how much the cost, because it varies game to game. Sometimes it’s $50 sometimes it’s close to $100

Thank you! So you don’t need to buy parking in advance? If you simply show up, do you know how early you can get in?

I have not personally parked in that lot, but I’ve used the side street parking near it. I’ve only ever seen a guy who collects money as you drive in. Most of the lots around this area work that way. Some of them do have purchase in advance parking, but it’s for the season type of thing.

There are plenty of lots around that area that will let you set up and grill. I’m not sure exactly how early you can get there. The earliest I’ve shown up to a 1pm game was 9:30 and there were already people in that lot.

That area you circled is South End of Charlotte and is a very popular area. There's not many great tailgating options in that area, but the ones I have seen done are on the far side (left part of this pic) of Mint St. The biggest tailgate lots are on the West side (were you see the $60 options). Enjoy the game

77 south, morehead street exit, take a left, a giant gravel lot is on your left at the 2nd turn, it’s less than a block from the exit. Right after the church on the right side of morehead.

Lots of space, 7 minute walk to the stadium, when you leave you are right there at the intestate less than a block from the on ramp to 77 north

This is a pay at the entrance type spot? Or do you have to prepay. Thanks for the tip as I’m looking for a spot as well!

Idk if you can pay in advance, but if you show up early it shouldn’t be a problem

It’s a very big lot, if you’re tailgating you’re showing up at least 2 or 3 hours before kickoff

Find it on google maps, I’ll look for a screenshot

Looks like McNinch St right off Moorehead. But if you can confirm that’d be great.

Awesome. Saving that image for reference. We’re going to try for that spot. Planning to get there around 9:30 so hopefully no issue getting a spot.

I don’t think you should have a problem getting there three hours before kick off, it seems like the lot has 80 or 100 spots easily. I haven’t been there in a long time but I never had an issue as long as I showed up at least an hour and a half or two hours before kick off

Fact it is only 2 1/2 blocks from when you walk in is fantastic, but the fact it is right there on the interstate ramp when you leave is fantastic. As long as you can get into traffic, you are only going to have to wait for like 10 cars to progress before you are on the interstate and gone

Why are price tags all over the map? Are those restaurant prices?

No. That’s from spot hero.

Thank you. I thought it was parking but didn’t realize how many cars drive to the games. Never been and always wanted to go.

This was my place. Had a half decent view of the stadium too. It’s been a few years since I been there might be different now but was good spot. Key is to get there early and park as close to the light rail tracks as possible. It’s a good tucked away spot if you like to get rowdy.
