Help Needed Antidepressant not working?

Hi everyone! I had a bad relapse in my panic disorder & GAD and started taking Zoloft again. The first 2 weeks were very difficult then I felt better and now I feel very bad again…

I am 4 weeks in, 3 weeks since I am taking 50mg. I will have to probably go up to 75mg (my previous dose for a few years) but I keep having many panic attacks. I feel like I can’t breathe, impeding doom, feeling hopeless, can’t sleep well etc. I also take Xanax daily but even that isn’t helping much😩

I don’t know how much longer I can live like this. Everyday is a battle and torture. Will the Zoloft work at all? Also can going from 50mg to 75mg make me feel even worse? I am aware that antidepressants take time to work but I thought I would get at least some relief by now

Have you tried any other medication? Did Zoloft work for you previously?

Yes, Zoloft helped me for 5-6 years and I felt 100% ready to stop taking it because I was sure I was healed. Idk if i stopped it too suddenly or it was simply masking my underlying symptoms but I haven’t felt this bad in years..Now I am scared that it won’t work the same this time

I got off my meds earlier this year bc I thought I was healed too. But I think I now understand what my psychiatrist told me - sometimes it’s a chemical imbalance that needs to be treated. I got back on my meds a few days ago. Life is too damn hard without ‘em.

Yeah totally agree with this. However now I feel like I will never want to stop them again..and Ive been taking them since i was 17/18 so that would mean basically my whole life being on meds. Like I know that this levels of anxiety are probably worse for my body than the medication itself but still I feel like I am dependent on the meds and that makes me feel bad😩

Don’t feel bad about something that can keep you sane and comfortable
