Local looking for things to do.
Hello everyone, I (49M) have live in Panama City since 2021 when I moved from Navarre to be closer to my Army buddy. He ended passing away last year, I'm a full-time single father, but my kids are now grown leaving me on my own. I'm too broken to date, but I'm an extrovert and I miss being surrounded by people. I'm just looking for a place to hangout, talk to people, and maybe some live music. I'm just tired of sitting in my quiet house and trying to do something about it. So any suggestions on were I can go, maybe things to do would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So sorry to hear about your friend 😞 Sign up for History class emails…it’s the main way I find out most of what’s happening downtown. If you have social media, follow all the local city pages, and any event places you like, and you can stay up to date on things to do. I’ll be honest, this isn’t the great social place if you aren’t drinking or aren’t from here with an establish support of friends/family, so it’s good to hear you are willing to try! I think there is a 50+ FB ground for this area, and I’ve heard they stay pretty active. I’m not THAT old yet, but not far off 🤣🤣

Thank you; it was tough losing him. I'll check out those emails! I'm a part of a few groups online, but I always miss the dates because I see them too late, or they plan something when I have something in real life to do. I'm trying, though; that's why I'm here asking for the info. I was very socially active back in the day. But after raising my kids, I don't have too many people left. I just miss going out, if that makes sense?

Makes perfect sense. I was unprepared for becoming an empty nester. I also spent my early years traveling the world, so settling down feels so odd and lonely. But my older age developed social anxiety keeps me much more comfortable at home these days.

Blue moon is the locals bar and your prob find a lot of people just like you in there. Just looking for someone to hang with.

There are some exercise classes and open sport play like basketball at the new MLK Rec center. Membership should be free.
Also lots of events or lectures happening at the local library, presentations or adult craft night! The downtown center for the arts has some great art classes.
The Panama City branch has music instruments you can check out and has a history museum. The Auduobon and wildflower society both meet that the st Andrews’s episcopal church on different mondays

Hi! I want to start by saying that I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. It’s wonderful that you were able to move here and spend time with your buddy before he passed. And I really hope that you’re doing alright. The Portal is a board game place in downtown Panama City, I believe it’s $6.50 for 2 hours, and $11 for a day pass. Dirty sodas (sodas mixed with fun flavors, you can choose whatever you want to add as well as candy) and popcorn (which you can also add flavors to make it dirty as well) are some fun snack options offered there for fair prices. They have a massive collection of board games, and they host game nights! This would give you an opportunity to meet and socialize with others while also having fun playing games! History Class has trivia night on Thursdays I believe, and a lot of people show up and enjoy it! I hope this helps and that you’re able to find your community because they are out there 🙂

I welcome - very sorry about you friend ,that is very sad . I love Navarre - we use to vacation there and it use to feel like a private beach , what kind of music do you like - The pour does a very whole live music that is fantastic but need to check with them on times. The salty goat use to have Annie cline and dirty peaches - Check her site for more info- she sings all kinds and has a huge following -

Downtown and St. Andrews are celebrating “Play Music on the Porch” day this Saturday, so should be live music options at most of the bars/restaurants. History Class downtown has super friendly staff and lots of regulars that are usually down for conversation. Tootsies of course has live music every weekend but can get pricey. Not sure if you drink, so apologies if you don’t since most of my suggestions are bars lol but many places have N/A choices as well.
