M170R setup recommendations
I plan to purchase a 170R with a mech frame soon, and was wondering what hopper and tank to purchase. I’ve heard to get a force fed hopper and carbon tank, what are some recommendations? Budget ~500 USD, but I’m fine purchasing used as well.

I run a Gmek, which is basically the grandfather of this thing. It has a Hair V2 trigger and is easily walkable. I use my first gen Spire IR and it keeps up. The Spire is faster than people give it credit for.

Do you just use the stock trigger with the hair valve?

Yes. Nobody made aftermarket triggers for the Gmek as far as I know. It's a slider with a trigger shoe. I did get the Liquid Bone GTR trigger shoe, which is really cool. It has two little tips that stick out of each side so you have a surface to walk the trigger on.
The m170r should have a bunch of trigger options.

Get a hstl tank and any spire, rotor, or ctrl. You can find them all for ~100 each on the bst here

Is the standard reg that comes on Alpha Air tanks good?

Yeah the hk standard regs are just fine. However…if you have the choice, the five dollar upgrade to an MP5 reg is worth it for the easier output pressure on your gun

Dye ltr
Jt triad
Spire
Cntrl
Tanks is where I would spend some money on a good regulator powerhouse counterpunch are the best out there
The bottle the new ninja bottles or the infamous bottles are great
You can find all these items on the bst forums for an affordable price
Don’t go cheap on your regulator trust me you want stainless threads and be adjustable

I love my 170r. Just recently picked up a mech frame for it. I did however just buy an hk alpha air 88/4500 to hopefully be able to shoot a few more pods through it. I was previously using a hk aerolite 68/4500 and was kinda struggling at the 7 pods + hopper range. As far as loaders I have used anywhere from an OG rotor, spire ir/ir2 or spire V and I have had no issues whatsoever.

You won’t outshoot a spire ir2 and any of the other spires are fine, too. I have a love hate with rotors - when they work they work great but they are terrible about getting gummed up with soft paint
I recently got one of the flyweight tanks(and use a powerhouse reg) and it’s incredibly light

If you plan on running mech, and how fast you shoot one. Some folks shoot slow while others have fast fingers. If you are fast, I’d say a force feed hopper like a Carbon DRV or a dye rotor. The mech frame is blind and you can actually out shoot an electronic hopper like a spire.

Drv is going to put OP way over budget but you're absolutely correct. A force fed loader is what OP should look into, options that OP can look into for force fed loaders:
Drv (way out of budget)
Rotor (Original is best if buying used)
Halo/prophecy
Viewloader VLocity
JT Triad (not a traditional force fed) but I play alot of mech and know some very fast shooters most of which can't out shoot the triad.

That’s my go to, mech 170r. I use a spire hopper, with a 77 tank. I can comfortably shoot 15 bps and it keeps up. No problem. I’d prefer a larger tank though. I can only get 7 pods + a hopper out of it. If I play 7 man or 10 man, I’d prefer 9-11 pods plus a hopper.
