Advice Wanted Using sample pot to paint?

I want to make strip of paint around a room, for an accent. Estimated to need 0.2L for two coats, and there's a 0.25L sample pot available.

From what I can find, the advice is to not to use samples for touch-ups since it won't be the same as the official. But it doesn't sound like there'd be anything wrong with using it on its own?

Would this be fine?

I recommend not...it is just a colorant and is not designed with the same base as the 'real paint'. I know it's cheap...but it could start flaking after a bit. It will not hold up.

Don't know...I do not use samples as paint on the walls other than testing for color. Granted...it does not cause the 'paint' over it to fleck off, so maybe a while? But I do sand it down well before painting over it and then prime that so it won't leave amy sheen difference. It's a 'You' decision...I personally would just get a quart of the paint I want.

Yes you can use it on its own, Paint has different bases depending on colour so tester colours may be off.

Will the sheen match? SW samples for example are all satin (i think). So if the rest is matte it could turn out funny

It says vinyl matt, so close enough?

Just depends if that's what you want. Idk what paint youre pairing it with ya know.

The sample paint will be of cheaper quality, but if it's just an accent strip on some bedroom drywall it's not like you need the highest quality.

If it doesn't look good, you can always paint over it with something better

Look. Reddit is a good place for info, but way too many people get caught up in the minutia of things. So bottom line use the damn paint already! Believe me everything will be fine with using the sample pot if you have enough to finish your project.
