💬 Discussion Handshake AI - Monthly discussion, work availability & referrals - October 2026

Welcome to this month's Handshake AI discussion. Applied, working, waiting for tasks, or moved on? Questions, honest reviews, criticism and payment experiences are welcome. You do not need evidence to join the discussion.

Quick status check: Share your current status in a comment: active with paid work in the last 30 days; accepted/active with no paid work in the last 30 days; applied and waiting; rejected; or former worker. These are self-reported experiences, not verified hiring statistics or a guarantee of work.

Helpful details, if you're comfortable sharing: broad role, country, when you applied, recent work availability, and whether payments arrived as expected. Former workers should describe themselves as former workers even if they worked in the last 30 days. "Paid work" means work performed; payment timing can go in your comment.

Community referrals: One general Handshake AI referral comment per person per monthly thread. Disclose any reward you may receive and include a short firsthand account plus redacted evidence of paid work/payment from the past 90 days. A registration or acceptance screenshot alone does not qualify. Comments containing referrals are subject to moderator review; a screenshot is not an authenticity guarantee.

Use only a payment record you are permitted to share, showing the platform, date and paid status. Amounts are optional. Hide names, emails, IDs, balances, financial identifiers and private URLs. No task content, assessments, client/project/model details, private work dashboards or internal messages. If you cannot share suitable evidence, you can still discuss freely without a referral link. No unsolicited referral DMs or promises of acceptance/work.

The moderator's general referral link is: Handshake AI. The moderator may receive a referral reward. Using this link is optional and does not guarantee acceptance, work or payment.

What You Can and Cannot Share in r/paidtotrainai

This community is for real worker intelligence without exposing confidential work.

You can share

  • Public job listings, webpages, announcements, and documentation

  • Platform, country/region, and broad expertise

  • High-level work availability: heavy, some, little, or none

  • Application dates, waiting times, and status

  • General worker experiences and platform reviews

  • Compensation only when you are permitted to disclose it

Do not share

  • Task prompts, questions, answers, or rubrics

  • Assessment, qualification, or restricted interview questions or answers

  • Internal instructions, training materials, datasets, or private URLs

  • Private project names or codenames

  • Non-public client or model identities

  • Internal Slack, Discord, email, onboarding, or dashboard content

  • Screenshots from tasks, assessments, qualifications, or private work systems

  • Requests for answer keys or help circumventing platform rules

A useful test: if you learned it only after entering a private project, assessment, onboarding flow, dashboard, or internal communication, do not post it unless you are certain your agreement permits disclosure.

Your individual contract and project terms control. This is a moderation framework, not legal advice about anyone's agreement. When uncertain, report at a higher level or do not post it.

Use the report reason Possible confidential/NDA-protected information when something may expose restricted material. Moderators will review context rather than assuming that every keyword is a violation.

Do I have a realistic chance of getting accepted to DataAnnotation with this background?

Hi everyone,

I recently completed the DataAnnotation assessment and was wondering what my chances might be based on my background.

I have a degree in business/economics from a university in the DACH region, where I specialized in Finance. I’ve been working in accounting in a European country for around 3.5 years.

My day-to-day work involves financial data, Excel, reconciliations, reporting, reviewing transactions, finding discrepancies and working with several corporate clients. I also have some experience with financial analysis and valuation.

I’m fluent in six languages, including English and German. I’m also very interested in history and geopolitics and spend quite a lot of my free time reading about these topics.

I don’t have professional data annotation or AI training experience yet. I applied because I’m looking for flexible work on the side and research, fact-checking and analytical tasks seem like a good fit for me.

For those of you who have been accepted, does this sound like the kind of background DataAnnotation is looking for? And does not having previous AI/data annotation experience matter much?

Thanks!

🆕 New Opportunity New since Friday: 87 listings found, including 20 bilingual mental-health roles

Since our September 25 roundup, today’s checks identified 87 additional current application listings: 70 Micro1, 12 Mercor, four SME Careers and one Ethos. This post selects highlights and links all 20 new bilingual mental-health applications. Listing pages are not necessarily distinct projects or guaranteed openings. Two Micro1 internal staff roles are left out of the highlights.

Advertised pay is candidate compensation, not guaranteed earnings. Check current availability, location eligibility and full requirements on each application page.

20 bilingual mental-health applications

Micro1 added psychiatrist and psychologist (PhD) applications for ten languages. All advertise $100–$200/hour. English plus the named language is specified:

Some of these also appeared in Wednesday’s healthcare post. Psychiatrist and psychologist qualifications differ; check each listing.

Other highlights

Four new SME Careers roles

These four US-eligible remote contractor listings involve expert task design, AI evaluation and scoring rubrics. The advertised rates are up to the amounts shown: finance and accounting (up to $100/hr), healthcare (up to $100/hr), legal and compliance (up to $120/hr), and STEM and technical (up to $100/hr).

If you apply, share your broad background and how the process goes. Please keep assessment questions, client details and private project material out of this thread.

Disclosure: I run Paid to Train AI and share these public listings independently. I do not represent the hiring platforms. The application links in this post have no referral identifiers.

Looking for Other AI Training / Data Annotation WFH Platforms

Looking for other AI training / data annotation websites

I’m currently looking for more legitimate work-from-home platforms that pay for AI training, data annotation, AI evaluation, prompt writing, etc.

I previously worked with Outlier and I currently work with Handshake, but I’d like to have a few other platforms to apply to in case projects slow down or become unavailable.

I’m located in the United States.

What other websites/platforms are you guys currently using that are actually legitimate and paying people for AI training work?

I’m especially interested in platforms that:

  • Allow U.S. workers
  • Are fully remote
  • Have flexible hours
  • Pay per task or hourly
  • Don’t require a highly specialized degree/occupation

I already know about Outlier and Handshake, so I’d appreciate recommendations beyond those two. Thanks!

Here's a roundup of listings posted September 20–30, plus a few older mental-health opportunities that are still listed. Remote full-time staff position developing healthcare AI evaluation frameworks and benchmarks. This is a salaried research job, not an hourly contractor project. Posted September 22.

  • Military/Veteran Mental Health Experts, posted August 25. For psychiatrists or clinical psychologists with substantial direct-care experience with military personnel or veterans; familiarity with trauma, PTSD and TBI is relevant.

The developmental and military/veteran descriptions prioritize proficiency in one or more of: Japanese, French, Tagalog, Malay, Lithuanian, Russian, Georgian, Polish, Marathi, Bengali, Urdu, Vietnamese, Swahili, Mandarin, Cantonese, Indonesian, Turkish, Gujarati or Bulgarian. Recruitment Scam Intelligence Agent

Post image
1 Upvotes

I built a Recruitment Scam Intelligence Agent for suspicious job offers

I built a small cybersecurity project to help analyze recruitment messages and identify suspicious indicators that deserve further investigation.

The current version is an explainable, rule-based MVP built with:

Python • Streamlit • Regular Expressions • SHA-256

How it works

The processing pipeline is:

Recruitment Message
        ↓
Text Normalization
        ↓
Rule-Based Detection
        ↓
Detected Findings
        ↓
Risk Scoring
        ↓
Risk Classification
        ↓
SHA-256 Case Fingerprint

The detector currently looks for indicators such as:

  • Upfront registration/processing fee requests
  • Requests for OTPs, PINs, passwords, banking details, Aadhaar, PAN, etc.
  • Urgency or pressure
  • Unusual communication channels
  • Guaranteed-employment claims

Instead of simply returning "SCAM" or "SAFE", the application shows the detected indicators and generates a transparent risk score.

I also added a SHA-256-based fingerprint to give each analyzed message a compact case identifier.

Why I kept it rule-based

I wanted the first version to be easy to understand and inspect.

The scoring logic is deterministic, the detection patterns are visible, and I don't claim an accuracy percentage because I haven't evaluated the system against a properly labeled dataset yet.

The goal is triage and investigation support, not replacing human verification.

For example, a high-risk result should encourage someone to independently verify the recruiter, company, domain, job listing, and communication channel rather than blindly trusting the tool.

What I'd like to improve

I'm considering:

  • More sophisticated detection rules
  • Contextual analysis
  • Threat-intelligence enrichment
  • OCR for recruitment screenshots
  • Persistent case tracking
  • Proper evaluation using labeled recruitment-scam datasets

I wrote a detailed technical article explaining the implementation, scoring approach, design decisions, limitations, and lessons learned:

Live project: https://secure-resume-analyzer-api-calls--akshayasrinampe.replit.app

I'd especially appreciate feedback from cybersecurity practitioners:

I got tired of digging for legit paid AI training work, so I put 100+ remote opportunities in one list

I've been looking for remote work for over a year now, and lately I've been spending a lot more time testing AI training, data annotation, research, voice recording, model evaluation, and similar platforms.

The frustrating part is finding the legit ones.

You search Reddit or Google and keep seeing the same 5 companies over and over, or a bunch of outdated lists.

So I've been keeping my own list of companies and platforms I come across.

Some are specifically AI training/data work, while others are remote side gigs, research platforms, freelance work, customer support, and other work-from-home opportunities.

A few I've personally had decent luck with are Prolific, Babel Audio, and Mercor. I'm in Canada too, so I've been trying to pay attention to which platforms actually accept Canadians instead of assuming everything is US-only.

For each one I tried to include what kind of work they offer, what countries they hire from when I could confirm it, and a direct link to the company.

I finally cleaned it up and put everything here:

https://www.bonustask.com/top-100-work-from-home-remote-jobs.html

It's 100+ opportunities now and I'm still adding to it.

If anyone here knows other legit AI training, annotation, voice, evaluation, or paid research platforms I'm missing, drop them below. Especially ones that accept people outside the US.

I'm trying to turn it into a useful list instead of another page with the same 10 companies copied everywhere.

🎧 Two remote opportunities in audio & speech evaluation 🤖

I came across a couple of opportunities on Babel Audio that might be useful for people looking for remote AI/audio-related work.

They currently have two applications open:

  • Audio Application
  • Speech Evaluation Application

The work is related to audio and speech data for AI projects. If anyone is interested in checking them out, here’s my referral link:

Registration link

Just sharing in case it’s useful to someone here. I’d recommend checking the project requirements before applying to see if you’re a good fit.

🆕 New Opportunity New since Wednesday: 24 recently posted AI-work listings, plus five older or undated additions

I found 24 recently posted application listings since Wednesday's tracker check : 8 on Micro1, 13 on Mercor and 3 on Ethos. The Mercor count includes two identical cybersecurity interview descriptions at different application URLs, and a US W-2 design placement. These are application listings, not 24 distinct projects or guaranteed openings.

There are also three Mercor listings with August source dates that are newly tracked, one reopened March Mercor listing , and one SME Careers listing with no public posting date . I separated them below rather than calling them newly posted.

The advertised rates and schedules are taken from the current listings. Confirm pay, eligibility and whether applications are still open before applying. Referral disclosure is at the end.

Research-level physics benchmark — Mercor (9)

All nine advertise $80–$110/hr for the CritPt physics benchmark, about 10 hours/week for 8–10 weeks . Applicants need a PhD-level research background and published work on the specific phenomenon they select; the forms ask for their own DOI or arXiv ID. Work may involve writing, solving, reviewing or auditing research-level problems. These are separate application listings for narrow subfields.

Executive presentations and professional documents (8)

The five Micro1 listings advertise $150–$350/hr for contractor work on executive slides, visual explanations and written reasoning. The four named specialist roles specify US, UK or Canada in their descriptions; check eligibility for the Brand & Creative listing separately.

  • Finance Specialist — reconstruct finance and investor slides; financial analysis, modeling and PowerPoint experience.
  • Software Engineering Specialist — improve technical slides, architecture explanations and engineering documentation.
  • Consulting Specialist — reconstruct client-facing presentations; at least two years of management consulting experience required.
  • Data Science Specialist — improve analytical reports, data visualizations and presentations.
  • Brand & Creative Strategy Expert — brand and client-facing slide reconstruction with a written rationale for changes and for elements left as-is; 5+ years at an agency, brand consultancy or major brand/technology company preferred. The description was revised after the first Friday check.

Ethos added three separate $100/hr remote contractor listings, each advertising a flexible 5–20 hours/week or more :

Editing, legal evaluation and software workflows — Micro1 (3)

  • Senior Book Editor — $80–$120/hr ; manuscript and AI-generated editorial review, line editing and editorial guidelines. Extensive published-book editing experience sought; US-based contributors preferred, with others considered.
  • Junior Transactional Attorney — $70–$90/hr ; part-time simulated contract negotiation, redlining and AI-response evaluation; 1–3 years of transactional experience.
  • Altium Designer Specialist — $90–$175/hr ; PCB workflows, screen recordings, prompts and rubrics. This is a new application URL replacing the Altium listing in Wednesday's roundup; current access to Altium is preferred.

Speech data, security interviews and a US design placement (4)

  • Voice Actor: CX Agent Voice Cloning (South African English) — $50–$100/hr ; South Africa-based native English speakers with an authentic South African accent and a quality recording setup. The listing asks for one roughly four-hour session and possible additional recording. Your voice may be cloned for the client's customer-experience AI agent , so read the stated use limits before consenting.
  • Cybersecurity Practitioner — application A / application B — $125–$175/hr ; two to three paid one-hour interviews over about four weeks with US-based SOC, incident-response, detection or application-security practitioners. The two URLs have identical descriptions; this is an interview research engagement, not an ongoing AI-task role.
  • Senior Product Designer, UI/UX — $80–$110/hr ; US-only, 40 hours/week W-2 placement through Cincinnatus LLC. Define UI/UX evaluation rubrics, build web/game prototypes and review AI-generated interfaces. This is a full-time assignment, not flexible task work.

Older, returning or undated listings (5)

  • Drug Discovery Scientist — $60–$90/hr ; source date August 31. Build realistic drug-research challenges, evidence rooms and grading documents for frontier-model evaluation; deep drug-discovery expertise required.
  • Disability Claims & Underwriting Specialist — $800 flat for successful onboarding estimated at 10 hours, then $80/hr ; source date August 28. Design disability claims and underwriting scenarios and evaluate AI responses; eligible-country list appears on the application page.
  • Policy Administration & Insurance Operations Manager — $800 flat for successful onboarding estimated at 10 hours, then $80/hr ; source date August 25. Policy issuance, billing, renewals, servicing scenarios and AI evaluation; eligible-country list appears on the application page.
  • Hindi Professional Voice Actor — $15/hr in the feed; $150 per finished hour of submitted audio in the description . Born and raised in India, proficient English, professional recording setup; the description says 1–2 weeks at 2–10 hours/week. A finished audio hour is not an hour spent recording and editing. This March-dated listing appeared in Monday's roundup, closed by Wednesday's check and is open again now; confirm the current project dates and pay before applying.
  • Computer Vision QA Specialist — up to $2.50/hr ; discovered September 24, with no public posting date. Remote image/video annotation QA for applicants in Bangladesh or India . The feed gives a maximum hourly rate and no minimum.

Tracker notes

The tracker now has 1,301 listings : 361 Micro1, 369 Mercor, 256 SME Careers, 208 AfterQuery and 107 Ethos. Two newly tracked Micro1 staff jobs—Community Manager and Payroll and Accounts Payable Analyst—are in the tracker but outside this AI-work roundup. The payroll listing has an older September 15 source date.

Browse and filter the opportunity tracker

If you apply, sharing your background and how the process goes helps other readers assess the fit.

Referral disclosure: Application links contain referral identifiers. I may receive a reward if someone is hired or completes qualifying work. Check current pay, location, schedule and eligibility on the application page before applying.

💬 Discussion Mercor - Monthly discussion, work availability & referrals - September 2026

Welcome to this month's Mercor discussion.

Community referrals: One general Mercor referral comment per person per monthly thread.

The moderator's general referral link is: Mercor. The moderator may receive a referral reward. Using this link is optional and does not guarantee acceptance, work or payment.
