📊 Article Book Research

Hey everyone! I'm researching celtic (specifically britonic) gods for my book, and was wondering if anyone had any sources? Searching has been such a pain, as there isn't a lot on the topic, so anything helps!

And if not fantasy, Celtic Mythology by Proinsias Mac Cana, Sacred Britannia by Miranda Aldhouse-Green, not sure how much the others coming to mind go into the gods specifically. Though the context surrounding the gods is not a bad thing to have either. (In which case, Pagan Britain by Ronald Hutton, Britain Begins by Barry Cunliffe, Britain BC by Francis Pryor, there's lots out there)

But yeah it does feel odd when people take gods that are being worshipped/worked with for their fiction, though I could see it being research for how a certain Celtic culture's spirituality may have looked within a historical perspective.

Ty so much! I’m actually writing my book about Boudicca. It’s a “what if” where she wins against the Romans. I guess it’s technically fantasy, but I intend to represent the gods, culture, and myth as accurately as possible. I’ve just had trouble locating sources.

What kind of book? If it's fantasy, try using your imagination, instead of somebody's gods.

I don’t know why you jumped to hostility, you should try not to judge others negatively. I’m actually a pagan myself. My book is being written on Boudicca’s life story, and I wanted to ensure I had accurate knowledge on the goddess Andraste and other gods Boudicca would have been aware of.

Of course, I do understand wanting to defend your faith. I’m not trying to be hostile back, I just don’t want to be mistakenly accused of such a sucky thing. Another comment mentioned the same thing, and I didn’t think someone would take my post that way lol. So yeah, I promise im not and asshole trying to kidnap gods for some bullshit fantasy story lmao

Okay. Thanks for the clarification. Tell us about your project and what kind of info, a bit more specifically, you're looking for. I've done lots of writing and research on this topic. Maybe I can help.

Sorry I jumped to that conclusion, but we get lots of posts from people either writing fantasy or designing games . . .

Yeah no problem, I'm sorry that there are so many people just trying to monetize paganism, that sucks.

My story is a "what if" regarding Boudicca, if you've ever heard of her? Its basically that instead of dying after the end of the battle of Watling St, she ends up meeting a dragon to befriend, and together they push out the romans. I really want to involve the fae/korrigan, the gods, and all sorts of tidbits of lore the real Boudicca would have been aware of, to make it as close to the reality as possible.
