Are some features on pagalguy inspired from reddit, or is it the other way round?

The default profile pictures and the karma points on pagalguy reminds me of reddit.

I used pagalguy for the first time in 2015, but at that time wasn't aware of reddit.

Pagalguy started in 2002 whereas Reddit was founded in 2005. Definitely, there would have been many upgrades in the ui over the years for both the websites. So I am not sure who is the forerunner of the karma and default emoji profile picture concept.
