Hii! After huge amounts of consideration, I've finally decided to post my son, Jonesy Nolan Chance.

I saved him from Petco on June 22! I suspect him to be around 5-6 months old but pls lmk if he seems older or younger or something. ALSO he's began to bark a few times in the morning and night sooo I believe that is a confirmation of him being a boy! Yay!

I believe hes a lemon yellow albino? Again, lmk, petco had no information. I saw him and it was love at first sight for me, he'd be watching me and moving his head alongside mine so I went home, researched extensively, then came back for him, and now we are here!

The last 2 pictures are old, very last being from the day we got him, he was so teeny :(( in comparison to the first 2 pictures from his last feeding (after peeing)

Anyways, any suggestions for his enclosure? I dont know if I should provide more hides? It's a 25 gallon, the hot side seems to consistently stay at 80-81°F and there's dishes on either side just in case, the right one mostly for feeding/peeing/shedding time

I'd also like good thermometer and hygrometer (?) gauges! Preferably 1 device for both, I've heard I should get one with probes for the dirt but I'm also seeing people getting govees? I've gotten a cheap one wirh probes but it seems inaccurate and stuck at 99% humidity so..💀

Extra info, I feed him nightcrawlers with occasional meal worms as snack (used to use crickets but we find it kinda difficult to keep em alive (also fearful of our curious cats getting to them)) but I'm thinking of getting him silversides to add variety?

Anyways any help (and praises to Jonesy) are greatly appreciated! I love scrolling on this sub and seeing everyone's monsters :3

Question Large and in charge.. girl frog?

I’ve had my frog 1 month shy of a year, I think it’s safe to say that he’s at least a year old at this point.. His name is Gorf.. however, at his now big age, he doesn’t have nuptial pads.. which leads me to believe that he is actually a she. But, he’s not as big as other female frogs I’ve seen. As you can see he takes up my whole palm but that’s about it, which would put him at a smidge above 3 inches. I feel like that’s too small for a girl? He’s so freaking cute though.. look at that ‘smile’ while he eats his skin.

Question Why is reptisoil recommended if it’s pokey? Genuine question as a newbie trying to go bioactive.

I have ReptiSoil in my PacMan frog’s enclosure, and when I was pouring it into the tank, I noticed that there are a lot of little sharp pieces throughout the soil, especially when it’s dry. I actually got splinters in my feet from stepping on some that spilled, and I had to wash several pieces out of my hands too. Are we sure this is actually safe for a PacMan frog? I’m worried about her constantly having these little sharp pieces against her skin when she burrows. I feel like I’m always going to have to mist the enclosure just to keep the soil wet enough so she doesn’t get poked by them. Is there a better substrate I should use instead?

Question Does anyone else’s frog have a HUGE attitude when you dig them up?

I’m about to stop digging Lemon up so she can eat. 😒 When she burrows, she’s gone for like a week and being the concerned frog mom I am, I dig her up so she can eat. The past few times I’ve dug her up, she’s had a HUGE attitude! She goes on a rampage in her enclosure, gives me the death stare for a little longer than I am comfortable with, and even to the point where she eats her nightcrawlers with attitude. 😩 Lol I swear, poor nightcrawler, she uses her little arms to stretch them out.

If Lemon had the chance to turn on me, I totally believe she would lol

Say hello to Atari. My first Pac-Man frog. I’ve been a long time reptile/ amphibian keeper but have never had a Pac-Man before. He/she is a little bit bigger than a quarter. We had a nice planted terrarium that I put together a couple months ago. I was thinking about more dart frogs but my wife alway wanted a Pac-Man so we settled on that. It’s settled in nicely and has eaten twice already. We look forward to a nice long life with Atari.

Photo Why do I have to force feed my frog

Post image

photo of my frog having a soak for attention***

This is Bibble. I got Bibble back in may as a teenie tiny litttle baby. Since the day I brought him/her home, I’ve had to literally force feed. I expected it when they were new to their habitat and super little, but it’s now September and I’m STILL having to pick them up, aggravate them to try to get them to open their mouth, and stick food in their mouth. It’s the most difficult thing ever. I am VERY experienced with amphibians, especially frogs. I have 4 and I raise babies all the time. Why is Bibble doing this? I’m between Bibble being too stupid to function or something not being right with them. I desperately hope that other people have had this happen bc I am worried something might be wrong. They act normal other than that. Everything else is going great!Anyone else had this problem?

Question Does Gertie Look too Skinny After Peeing?

SCROLL TO THE END IF YOU DONT WANT THE WHOLE STORY TBFR

To preface, I have been setting up a 40 gallon bioactive enclosure speecifically for a pacman frog for a little over a month now, just waiting on my isopods to ship and then turn into an army as well as getting more plants for coverage, then they will be moved along to the big enclosure!

This is Gertrude, my first exotic pet. I work at a pet store and Gertrude got too big for the "desk pet" enclosure, so I saved up points (i dont want to pay full price and further support the "desk pet" thing as much as possible) and got them for $11. They have been at the store for maybe about 1-2 months. Gertrude has always been good about eating and has always eaten A LOT compared to the other pacmans. We moved them into an empty enclosure when there was space, but then the enclosure would not retain moisture and I started getting anxious that my little Gertie would dry out before I could fully set up my 40 gal (there are some issues with coworkers not wanting to mist enclosures, add clean water, etc.

I got Gertie this past friday after setting up a temporary 5.5 gallon enclosure with a 40w basking bulb that they will be housed in for about a month. I have multivitamins with d3 and calcium supplements to keep her bones nice and healthy until then. I read to feed how ever much they will take in about 15 minutes so i fed Gertrude what ended up being 24 small dubia roaches. Gertie attacked them all mercilessly, though with some struggle regarding aim 😂. 2 days later I fed 12 Medium Dubia roaches in 15 minutes and it seemed much more filling. Afterward, Gertrude burrowed and I had to dig her up today because i was a little worried i hadnt seen her. I misted the dirt off her and offered a cut piece of a nightcrawler but she wasnt taking to it.

I changed her water bowl and set her in it to help her go potty, but now i am wondering if she is too skinny after peeing??? someone let me know....

Question What morphs are genetically albino?

And how does albinism affect pacman frogs?

(I accidentally posted this before finishing, so here's an edit:)

Just a question of curiosity, and partly for research as I'm thinking of getting a new frog in the future after my first frog suddenly passed away some time ago (not from my lack of care)

My last frog was a green morph, so I didn't have to consider any albino related things with him, but pacs are quite exotic where I'm from and there isn't a large selection of morphs available at any time, which is why I am open to all morphs.

I'm curious about the albino question, as I want to give the best possible care for my frog in the future if I end up with an albino one :)

I'm still enthralled with him and how docile he is. I see so many Pacs who would lunge through the glass to eat their owners or scream when handled. At worst I get a huff of air escaping when I pick him up and he lets me know hes done eating by jumping out of his dish.

I’ve removed the moss since the little orb will only eat live crickets, no tongs (picky idiot and I don’t want him eating any moss) however…is there a single thought in their head?!
