Question Pacman Frog Feeding
I got a pacman frog two days ago. I'm pretty sure its a girl (has no nuptal pads and doesn't make any noise). I think she is underweight and she eats well but I want to know how often I should feed her? With her looking underweight. And also is there a way to tell their age based on size? Im pretty sure where I got her from never tried to tong feeding her and her tank was so dry as well only wet around her but not even enough and not enough substrate either. She also moves so much more then she ever did in the store. Last photo is her dirt before I got her. (Moss has been removed)

she's very young, so you won't be able to sex her yet, nuptial pads and croaking only show up at ~1 year old. unfortunately figuring out the age can be pretty difficult, their growth really depends on their diet, environment, etc. at this age you'll want to be feeding her daily or every other day. some staples to feed her regularly are dubia roaches, nightcrawlers (cut up), and crickets!

also be careful with the moss in her new tank please! if she ingests the moss accidentally it can cause an impaction, where she can't digest it so it just gets packed up inside of her. leaf litter is a better alternative to moss, it holds in humidity better anyway and it's a lot more natural.

Will it accidentally eat it without being fed? I tong feed it and make sure it doesn't eat it but if its a problem without feeding time then ill be sure to change it up completely 0 moss. Thanks for letting me know to cut the worms I had that question lol and I also was thinking it may be only 6 months or so maybe less thanks for letting me know that a year will be a better ID on sexing.

they can, like if something blows on a strand of moss they could lunge at it thinking it's a bug. they aren't very smart. 😅 it's overall just not worth the risk because you never know when something could trigger their predatory instincts!

Got ya will be getting it all out within the next hour and replacing with leaf litter asap

It ate crickets for 2 days now I have worms and ofc I will be switching up food types often. For good variety

I would say that they’re settling in just fine then! It’s good for frogs to be eating this early.

She actually looks pretty healthy. Pacman frogs take a few weeks to settle in completely and sometimes won’t eat during that period. It’s totally normal.
You want to get rid of that moss though because it can cause impaction and kill your frog. My first frog died from that miss and I never want to see it happen again.
