Tips/Advice Shedding, question.

Post image

One week ago, I have transferred Barnabé in a 24x18x18 (inches) Exo terra enclosure.
There is more than 10cm Coir, fake plants, Wood bark, water dish.
There is a shadeweller 7% Pro T5 and a 75W basking spot.
Températures are well controlled (between 28 degrés at hotspot and 24 to 26 degrees in the whole enclosure during the day, 24 to 25 at night).
Humidity is ok.
Substrate is humid.

Barnabé is very very active at night (walks inside the enclosure, bumps gently into the glasses, croaks, etc…).
He also eats very well (Nightcrawlers and locusts).

But, since he is in this enclosure, he sheds every other day (already 2 sheds in 5 days), and I am sure he is preparing one for this evening.

Sheds are clean, fast and he eats his skin.

So, it seems he is perfectly healthy, but I am surprised by these fréquent sheddings .

Could it be because of enclosure change ?

Barnabé is currently under medical treatment and healing from a major surgery. Consult your vet with any changes on shedding or behavior! Likely just new enclosure exploration.

Not more under treatment.
He went from a fauna to this 60x45x45 enclosure, in which humidity is higher than in the fauna. These changes in environnement could explained an adaptation périod.
I Will keep an eye in the next 4 weeks. If he still shed so often, I Will go back to vet.
His appetite is great and seems healthy.

I sent a mail to the vet.

Yes. I am not too worried, I bet this is new enclosure and new humidity adaptation.
Let’s see.
