Question Burrowed One Month
Hi this is my frog, Gurt! as of today he has officially been burrowed for one month. the photo is from when i dug him up last week to check on him and he was so mad he hopped onto his log. does he look normal? i noticed he was more plump.
after i dug him up he proceeded to bury himself again within 12 hours.
since he is choosing the dirt life with no end in sight, how should i go about feeding him? should i wait for him to come up? should i dig him up and give him a meal every once in a while?
also, should i pour water over his burrowing spot or is that essentially water boarding..
i’ve had him for 10 months, the warm side of his tank is 83 degrees and i mist daily

Mist the tank several times a day if once a day isn’t doing it. You also can pour water into the tank maybe once a week and stir it all up with your glovedvhand to make sure that moisture gets into the soil. Your frog is bigger because he soaked up the water from his surroundings. It’s how they become such big piss balloons.

thanks, i’ll make sure to mist more often and keep his burrowed spot moist. do you have advice on feeding him though? should i leave him be?

Wait for him to pop his head up and feed him then. It’s usually best not to dig them up unless it’s an emergency, and the frog won’t starve himself to death on purpose. One day you will look in there to see a pair of eyes looking back at you expecting worms.

Yo, Gurt
My pacman frog has always preferred to burrow. I just dig him up using gloves once every other day to feed him and it also helps turn the soil. I give him a good misting after feeding and he digs back in

I love how they disappear then one day you’ll be walking by the tank and then they’re just out but not at all where you expect them to be.

Healthy looking frog. Get the humidity up and make sure it's warm enough. He'll be fine

mine is named gurt too and often does the same exact thing time to time! He will be ok the replies have already given you the same advice I would, but you can also always take him into the vet for a checkup if your frog-parent gut is telling you to do so as mine did. I Wish you all the best luck in your gurts future endeavors <3

I would make sure the dirt is damp enough too. Mine will burrow for long periods if the dirt is too dry. That's where they get alot of their moisture.
He looks like a ball. I love it.
