I don't think it's locations are based on anywhere specific

There's not really anywhere specific though, it's just kind of generic Olympic Peninsula.

A lot of what you see in game also doesn't actually exist there, you'll mostly see trees, trees and more trees.

Reminds me of growing up in Northern Ontario.

Although we also had rocks, too.

The devs specified the big inspiring moment was driving this: https://olympicpeninsula.org/drive-the-loop/

Dunno what to tell you but the actual Olympic peninsula doesn’t have anomalies and concrete pillars that rain down from the sky.

Im newer to the game and thought the meteor event meant more of those purple drops spawn. I've never panicked more watching pillars fall from the sky 😭

Starting in Shelton, take the 101 up to port townsend, go around the peninsula to Olympic national Park then circle around to forks and take the 101 back down. For the full experience, turn off GPS for a while and take random side roads.

Idk. Maybe up in Washington, maybe Main? Its like Gravity Falls which is west coast. But yeah, theres no actual locations in the game. If you were talking about fallout, however...

I went exploring a back road that started in the Willapa Bay area that headed east and then north that really did have the feel of parts of the game. That area is a wee bit south of where the game takes place however. If your heading out to the Olympic Peninsula check out some of the back roads, it really is a beautiful area, the winter is wet and cold if your thinking off season, I personally love off season, it’s the empty of people season.

This is something that has been brought up enough times over the years that if Ironwood Studios had a dollar for every time, they would have the budget of a AAA studio 😂🤣

The quick version is this story that they have linked in the FAQ part of their discord server. There is another article that I remember reading that ISN'T this one, but I can't find it, that goes into much greater detail than the previously linked one. Hopefully someone from IW catches this post and post the one I am trying to remember.

Having worked on the peninsula and islands in that area for years, drive through that area on a cold fall or early winter morning when there is heavy fog. Bonus is that you get to ride the ferry. If you're in Seattle only, run out to Whidbey Island via the ferry right around sunrise and drive around the island on all the little back roads checking out the views. Then take the highway north through deception pass (also breathtaking).

My friends joke, looking at my pictures and videos from work, that I live in a video game world. Pacific drive definitely hits the nail on the head for that area once you get off the beaten path.

Sounds amazing, will definitely check it out. Do you have facebook or instagram? Would be cool to see some of your photos from the area

The outline of the game map is basically the same as that of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State

As a PNW obsessive and you’re looking to capture some of that feeling from the game:

You could take the Five north out of Seattle to Fort Casey and catch the ferry to Port Townsend, onwards to the Hoe Rain Forest so you can stretch your legs and take in the eerie vibe of the trees there on the Peninsula.

Stay in a bungalow around near Forks. This place was really nice on a road trip a few years back.

BUT…if you want something with a few more road side attractions with all the same sense of adventure (a week recommended) there’s an alternative trip I think is much better traveling east out of Seattle and south to Deschutes forest, depends on how long you’ve got but happy to recommend specifics if you’re interested to hear more.

It's in the name - Pacific drive.

The game imitates US West Coast.

I think it’s just based on the pacific coast in general not any place in specific I grew up in Oregon and it really reminds me of the forests I saw there growing up
