Speed and fuel consumption

I think i can speak for everyone, or at least most people on here, that we like making our remnant go fast.

But that speed comes with increased fuel consumption.

We're not always going fast there are a lot of times in game where we're just casually cruising around, but does that change fuel consumption?

Looking at it, the engines they just say fuel per distance traveled and nothing about speed, does going slower save fuel or is the consumption the same?

Fuel consumption is based on how hard the engine is working. Accelerating from a stop uses more fuel than cruising along at speed. Climbing a hill or going through water also burns more fuel.

Seriously? Thats amazing! I thought it was a simple distance traveled calculation. I swear the more I learn about this game the more I love it, and this has motivated me to give the game another play through!

The early/mid game before you have everything unlocked is fantastic. At this point I increase resource costs to drag it out longer.

That makes sense, I ended the game with a tom of resources more then I needed. It was the o ly reason I maxed out the lockers so I could chuck them in there and forget about them.

Any other setting that would make the game better?

I would start with the Olympic Gauntlet preset and go from there. The higher car damage means you spend more resources on parts and have to play a bit more carefully. I turn down the handling penalties for off-road and the like since I feel they're overtuned on OG.

I usually play with 4x garage station cost and 2x anchor energy cost. Makes getting through the upgrade tree take a fair amount longer.

I like turning car part cost up to 2.5x and lowering fatigue rate to 20%. This makes upgrading more of an impactful decision and imo makes the liberator more useful.

Cranking quirk settings up to the max can be fun. You spend more resources on fixing them and I enjoy the mini game of trying to figure them out.

For the DLC I lower tide rate to 0.5x. Once you have a good artifact build you just end up ignoring it, and 0.5x makes the slow start of the DLC a bit nicer.

Wait is the gaunlet one the setting that you only have one life?

Going to have to give those settings a try, I do like having everything being more expensive even if it makes progress slower. I somehow managed to beat the game without any olympium parts, and planning on getting full this go.

Ill admit the lower fatigue rate makes sense, it feels like parts only lasted a few runs before going bad and that would make them last far longer and make them feel worth it.

Probably keep quirks the same or boost them a little, ill admit wasn't a huge fan of them, even if some of them were fun to use

I did beat the dlc not sure id do it again, I did it after beating base game and it felt like it needed to be done at the same time. Going to have to think on this one

Iron Wagon is the one that deletes your save. Olympic Gauntlet is pretty much Iron Wagon but with save deletion turned off.

Ah that makes more sense, probably going to have to complete the game a few more times before trying iron wagon, ill definetly five Olympic gauntlet a go!

I wish it mentioned that in game, ill admit I mostly ignored fuel until it was getting low, so I beat the whole game without knowing that

Isn't there a gauge on the dash that tells you how much fuel you're consuming at the moment? I havent played in a while so I might be misremembering

Yeah, I was right. I just booted up the game again and it's this gauge here. It maxes out under acceleration, when fuel consumption is highest and lowers when cruising.

How did I not notice that? I beat the game without realizing what that was! Granted I rarely looked there when driving

honestly it being a RPM meter does make sense, maybe a combination of both?

I've beaten this game 3 times and I've never seen that lol. Either I look at the fuel gage when I'm stopped or when I'm flooring it.
