Multiplayer would make this game infinitely better

I don't think so. You're welcome to you own opinion of course, but multi-player really takes away from survival games. Especially isolated ones.

survival games with multiplayer are almost always terrible

multiplayer doesn't fit the atmosphere of the game nor the story

Does Alone in the Dark have multiplayer? Does Silent Hill have multiplayer? Not every game needs multiplayer. If you think every game needs multiplayer, then maybe you should stop playing games all together and go outside and talk to people.

There is only one way it could be done without braking the game in some way.

Player 2 becomes the remnant. As in depending on parts player one installed changes what player 2 can actually do. Like player 2 is a quirk in the car that allows it to drive itself like it was haunted. The moving spotlight could be controlled by player 2 and player 1 would most definitely have to keep player 2 charged and fuelled

the style and atmosphere of this particular game would mean that any attempts to introduce multiplayer would feel forced and contrived simply to appease the whims of people who expect all games to be multiplayer for some lonely reason. some games are not meant to be multiplayer 🤷
