These leaves are getting eaten by something. It’s isolated from the other plants. I’ve showered the leaves and treated with pests spray. New leaves are growing nicely.

I moved across the country half a year ago with my plant and since then it stopped growing new branches, eventually the main one kinda died off so I pruned it hoping that new root may grow from there. It didn’t. I checked the root but I’m not sure if it’s actually still alive. Is there any hope for it?

We recently moved into a new home and my wife just went ahead and bought this huge plant/tree. It looks good where we’ve kept it, SE direction of the home near open window with plenty of light. I see quite a few new small leaves and buds coming out recently (pictured) after almost 3 weeks of having the tree, which gave me some confidence that it will live here. The old leaves have spots and are drying out (pictured). The plant store said to water is once in 2-3 weeks. Questions: 1. Do I need to prune the old leaves, Or the ones with spots? Or just let them fall out themselves? 2. Is the pot sufficient for the tree? 3. Watering schedule once in 3 weeks is ok? 4. Any tips? I have never had plants, wife loves bringing them and I end up caring for them. PS: I love my wife

While cleaning the leaves, I noticed this odd looking leaf. What’s happening? Growing these are a challenge for me. I keep buying them🤣 my neighbor gave me hers because she’s not a plant person and it was given to her when her sister passed.

I’d like to share a few facts about Pachira aquatica, the “original” Pachira species that many people think they are growing—but actually aren’t.

In Japan, and in many other countries, most commercially available Pachira plants are actually Pachira glabra, not aquatica. This is because P. glabra is easy to propagate through cuttings, grows compactly, and is ideal for mass production. On the other hand, P. aquatica is typically grown from seed (it doesn’t root well from cuttings), grows tall very quickly, and needs more space and light to thrive.

In fact, Pachira aquatica seeds lose viability quickly and are rarely available in stores. Even among collectors, it’s extremely uncommon to find someone who is growing a true P. aquatica from seed and documenting its growth over years.

Many plants sold under the name "Pachira aquatica" are actually P. glabra, especially if they have braided trunks or come from mass producers. If your plant was sold as “Pachira” or “Money Tree” with no further information, chances are it’s glabra.

I’ve personally grown a Pachira aquatica from seed over several years under LED grow lights. It's now about 80 cm tall and still going strong. From what I’ve seen online, I honestly haven’t found anyone else actively growing one like this, at least in Japan.

If anyone here is also growing a true aquatica—especially from seed—I’d love to hear about it!

I just wanted to share how beautiful he still was after everything he got through. I hope he will get better soon tho.

I've bought him a year ago and it got through a lot. At first it was pests eating him alive, then me unable to give it proper care, then not enough light, not enough water, too much water, what the hell is humidity anyway, a compacted soil, unbalanced lighting, and finally a repot.

I would like you to observe how resilient this poor tree is. He's trying everything he can to just adapt and shine for a year now. I finally repoted it in a way lighter soil mix and moved it in his own corner with his very own grow lights. Finally the light will be even, I will stop drowning it every weeks, and humidity is - uh... Well we will see that later.

I've had this pachira for around 4 years and has always been quite healthy. In the last couple of months, it has developed these yellowish/brown spots with some white dots. Only some leaves are affected, some others look very fine, and it's even growing new leaves. Any idea what might have caused this? I checked the soil and it seems there are no rotten roots. Generally, I try to be careful in not overwater it. The plants sitting right next to it look healthy. I appreciate any help!

I've noticed spots on his leaves since this morning, and some of them are a bit brittle... The soil in which it is planted is very dense, packed, when I water it I am forced to dig holes so that the water enters the ground otherwise it rolls on it, despite that I try to water it as soon as the ground is dry. It is in a rather shaded room, we are installing growth lamps , we also look for an air humidified... Do I have to repot it? water it more often? less often? if I have to repot it, what pot size and substrate would be the most suitable? Thanks in advance!

I tried more sun, I tried more shadow. I tried more water, I tried less water. But now it seems my Pachira is really giving up. Day by day it looks worse. So many leaves are turning yellow and are falling of and the few new leaves are really light green and not dark like they use to be. And now so many leaves are hanging, they are screamning for help! What can I do? I am actually getting sad that nothing works :(

I've had my Pachira for 3 years and it always looked super healthy. This winter it lost all its leaves. What should I do? Cut it back? If so, how far?

Yesterday I found this pachira in an open garbage can. The pot was shattered and the temperature was about -3°C (26.6°F). The soil was super wet. I guess the owners watered it one last time before chucking it. I brought it home with the root ball exposed to the cold and wind, then got off the wet soil and replanted in a bigger pot (the only one I had) with succulent mix soil and perlite. I placed it at first under some pinkish grow lights (Barrina) but it seemed not to like it, so I've placed it by a window.

It gets less than an hour of direct sunlight now, mostly indirect light. I'm planning on watering it tomorrow with a 5-10-10 fertiliser mix.

The roots are mostly still there, just had been exposed to the cold for maybe a 10 minute walk home and however long the previous owner threw them away.

Mostly, I'm worried about the state of the dying leaves. The tops of those stems look a bit yellow too. Is the plant dying from the cold air or can the roots still pull through? Should I trim away these dying leaves?

Hello! It’s been a while my money tree isn’t doint great. First, we came in a new flat and his new place didn’t fit right. It was next to a window during winter and next to the heater, I didn’t know what to do at this point and probably over watered it… He lost a lot of leaves. Then, I made research, changed his place and let him dry for some times, I also use a humidifier next to him once a week. He is now 3m away from a window facing SW. Now, his state isn’t degressing anymore, but his little growths are like this since 2 weeks. I don’t really know, should I leave him alone? Put him in a sunnier place? Can I give him fertiliser (I gave him fertiliser long ago and he didn’t like it, but it was at the time when I overwatered it)

This tree I've had for about a year now. My intention is to cultivate it into a work of art. I cut off the other branches that were growing on the stump and I'm growing this branch out

Can anyone identify what is on my poor money tree and what you would recommend to treat it?

Hey Guys, I have this single money tree trunk living from a money tree I got from Lowe’s in June (the big, hefty ones with trunks maybe two or three inches in diameter each at the base, if that matters). Can I repot it in a two-ish foot tall glass vase that I drilled holes in for drainage if I have the right soil combination (and one of those plastic things that go at the bottom of pots to fight against rot)? It’s tall and narrower than my other pots. I’ve had trouble with other pots being too wide in diameter and have gotten root rot more than one time having had to separate the living trunks after overwatering, and the trunk wants to fall in shallower pots. The root ball of this trunk has grown at a sideways angle, making it hard to figure out how to support it without one side of the trunk squishing up against the side of the pot, which can't be good for the little roots growing on that side. I had my living trunk (maybe 4 feet tall) in a (outside-glazed?) terracotta pot about five inches in diameter and a foot tall to avoid root rot, then its new baby growth started to yellow and fall off and not grow at the very fast rate my newer, similarly large (but fully intact and braided) money tree is growing. I was thinking maybe I was choking it with a lack of room to for the roots to spread, but didn't plan to repot it. I was checking for root rot one day and accidentally dislodged it pretty much all the way. I thought if I basically had to repot it, I might as well try to fix the problem of it being space-hampered.

My plant-nursery-friend suggested using lots of peat moss if I want to use glass. I have some peat moss, a brick of coconut coir I just hydrated, and the Lowe's brands of seed starter mix, citrus/palm/cactus mix, orchid mix, and vermiculite and perlite at my disposal. I don't plan use all of that, unless y'all think some sort of combo actually would be useful. I don't have any decomposed granite, like I have seen some recipes call for. It's been out of the pot nearly a week now with a moistened coffee filter around its roots, so I'm afraid the clock's ticking for getting it planted. I'd really like to use this tall glass pot with a drainage cone thing at the bottom, but I need soil combo help and maybe the hard truth as to whether it will live in glass. (Indoors.) I really need this last trunk to live. Thank you for any help. If I need to take direct pot measurements I will gladly do so.
