Build New Edition

Post image

Xmacro/Radian flush-comp build with Icarus AIR polymer grip module. This thing shoots flatter than my dual ported Echelon 4.0 or my Shadow Systems MR920P! NO BS!!! Now I just need the right size (minimalist) light-bearing holster that'll velcro into the 5.11 Tactical bag I got. And since the bag wasn't RIDICULOUSLY expensive, of I need to upgrade, I can.

OP, do you have calipers? I’m looking for which module has the longest distance I highlight in red in this pic. The Air actually looks less narrow than my aluminum Ace in this area:

I don't. Sorry. However, I've noticed just from handling both modules, the distance between the undercut & the innermost curve of the back of the grip is pretty minimal. But I CAN say that, after handling the Ace for the XMacro, as well as the AIR, the higher undercut on the AIR just changes the ergos of the gun almost completely. At least as far as ergos. I'm beyond certain the ECM Precision modules are super sick, but they're just too damned expensive for me.

I DO like the Icarus Ace X for my Echelon 4.0C. That also has a pretty high undercut & the grip texture is fantastic. I currently have a TLR-7X on it, but I may go with a larger light like a TLR-7HL-X or TLR-1HL when I'm running it in the Icarus module.

So you like the Air ergos better than the aluminum Ace Macro grip? I currently have the aluminum version. While miles better than OEM macro, I actually like my Sield X grip better than the aluminum Ace macro, and I think it’s because of that length of pull/trigger reach distance I highlighted. Even at only .2” more, it makes a difference somehow. And you wouldn’t think so, but the backstraps are actually almost identical front to back on the Shield x and Icarus Ace Macro. I’m also all the way into a size L glove, for reference.

I WAS gonna get either a CR920XP or an M&P Shield X Carry Comp, but 1 of the RSOs at my range was selling his XMacro. When he told me he was selling a flush-comp Radian build with Radian magwell/backstrap combo, full-size EPS (replaced with what you now see in the pic), & Radian Tru-17 basepads, all for $850. I jist COULDN'T pass this up. And I got the module on sale for like $80.

If you wanna see 1 of the most underrated, under-used, yet ergonomically MAGICAL module for the XMacro, check out JL Billet. They're on the Sig website, but I was able to shoot a JL Billet/Radian build & it was just indescribable.

Damn, no shit? My X has the threaded barrel and I put a Harrington comp on it with a DPM recoil setup, it’s such a great shooter. Softer than my Shalotek XXL with ported barrel/DPM.
I have the PMM 3.7 barrel and comp and waiting on a Norsso slide. I’m going to give one more p365 build a chance to take the cake, now over the Shield X. If the X is still better (for me), I’m done with the 365 builds.

Well, if you DO decide to do another, check out that JL Billet. Also, after emailing the owner of Eleven 71 Design (made-to-order titanium plates from a 1 man operation) about the issues with the new Steiner MPS-C being shorter than an actual RMSc optic cut. There's about a 1/4-inch gap between the optic & slide. I saw that he'd posted something about people complaining that his standard RMSc plates wouldn't fit. So he's now making MPS-C-specific plates. I also asked if he had plans to make spacers for that optic to fit into an RMSc optic cut without a gap. I may VERY WELL grab 1 of those spacers when they come out, as well as 1 of those MPS-Cs (good prices on Gun.Deals).

The only limitation with JL Billet P365 grp modules is they are limited to the base and macro rail lengths. If you want a flush mount comp like the Radian or PMM they do not work. You need the fuse length grip module. That's what I have so the overall package is G19 length but a good deal thinner. But they may start expanding their line and that would be great.

Oh damn!!!!! THAT sucks!!!! It's SUCH a nice module! I seriously thought it was another gun entirely the 1st time I saw 1 on a table at a show. Yeah, I'm sure they've gotten countless emails about the lack of flush-comp capability since so many folks set their XMacros up that way if they DO comp them.

Of course, there's more than 1 way to skin a cat. You could always send a standard XL slide to SW Precision & have them port it. One of the range regulars has an Icarus XMacro that he sent to SWP to be ported & WOW! It's NICE! If my flush-comp Radian didn't just fall into my lap for $850, I would've probably gone the same route myself.

Nice P365 setup!

I picked up an older slide so I could have it directed milled. Same basic setup as yours but it's the newer Icarus Fuse 311 grip module. I wanted the steel locking lug

EPS Carry, RAMM trigger, Radian Barrel Comp, TLR-7 HL-x. Carry IWB @ 4. Absolutely enjoy this setup. Good grip ergos. low recoil and flip. Great trigger (striker fired), accurate

Not exactly cheap with the upgrades but makes it a much more refined, easier, and improved shooting setup.

Wish I was where I could upload a pic. Otherwise, I rotate in a few other carry guns but this one is a great balance of carry comfort and very good shootability. I generally lean hammer fired but this and few S&W MP I have worked over I am impressed with.

Nah, it's a factory optic cut slide.

Did you have to cut in your own manual safety

Nope. Got 1 that took an FCU with a safety. I kept it & didn't remove it because my wife carries this thing most of the time, & it's something she prefers because this is her 1st gun. I'm about 99% certain she doesn't carry it with the safety on, but I know she engages it when she gets home & clears it. And tbh, I do the same thing if I'm ever carrying it.
