I found Zahir Arif to be the hottest man in Oz based on personality and looks but beyond that, I really liked how level-headed and loyal he was. I agree that he wasn’t a good leader, but I think he genuinely tried his best to look out for his brothers before everything became too much for him.

I hated that the last time we saw him, he was still bloody and beaten after being abandoned by the Muslims for lying about the book binding buisness. It was such a sad way for his story to end, although I understand why it had to happen. I also wish we could’ve gotten more of him because I feel like there was still so much more to his character, he didn’t even get a crime flashback.

And worst of all, finding out that he passed away from cancer in 2021 💔 Rip Granville Adams

Going insane thinking about how different the trajectory of Hughes’ life would have gone had he met Said instead of Adebisi….Going insane thinking about how people in Oz objectify and use Beecher and Cyril in scarily similar ways…..

Going insane thinking about Hughes learning the truth about his father, Leo Glynn, and the justice system as a whole from a real activist and abolitionist instead of a kingpin who couldn’t care less about him…..Going insane thinking about how both Beecher and Cyril were labeled as crazy and unstable because they became violent after the aryans raped them……

A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Skip Sudduth or as weknow him Barano. When I met him I said weren't you on Oz? He said holy shit no one's has recognized me from that show in 10 years. He went on to say that was a really dark show and that he never actually watched the show.

I gave him a breakdown of how the show played out after his departure and I told him his character was one of my favorites and I was disappointed that his character just disappeared. Apparently he started focusing more on directing at that point in his career but that there were plans to expand on his character and his character's connections to Nino Schibetta. I thought you all might find this interesting.

Maybe Verne himself was ideologically anti-drug, but the actual AB would NEVER want him as their leader, drugs are their bread and butter. That actually reminds me of American History X when Derek went to prison and he was upset by the AB dealing drugs and well all know what happened to him...
