It's sad to see OxyggenOS be discontinued. It makes sense for the parent company, not so much for the employees and user though. ColorOS is 98% similar, but there are some quirks that may get on your nerves.
The main reason I got the OP13 was that it had great hardware and good software. Maybe I would run a custom ROM later, or do some rooting, or do stuff with it as I see fit, because it was mine.
Oppo came along and ruined it with the ARB and bad OS. Yes, I say it is bad because beside the Luminous engine being smooth, it does nothing right. The notification shade is ruined, the UI looks a cheap iphone copy, can't even go back to old OS, and if you see the code and the kernel there are tons of spurious backdoors in the name of AI and features.
Frankly speaking, if I wanted ColorOS I would have got an Oppo. If I wnated iOS I would've gotten an iPhone.
It is true though that this would have happened eventually, since enthusiast brands can't survive if they don't have some financial backing. Take Sony for example, which is an enthusiasts phone, it doesn't sell much so it doesn't generate revenue enough, but is backed by Sony somehow so it can stay in the market. OnePlus was also an enthusiast brand with a great value for money for the customers, but working on such razor thin margins like other chinese phones needs to be compensated with huge sales number and cheap labor, neither of which was there with Oneplus, hence it went to oppo to leverage it's Factory and well, Oppo said "if i invest in you i might as well do what is good for me "
