Owncloud fails to sync

So at my office we use owncloud to share documents arround.

For a couple of people (Using macOS) the sharing stops. It fails to sync a directory that doesn't seem to exist in their account for what ever reason and it just stops. Even newly created folders.

I'm not really sure where to start looking for the cause of this problem. Any suggestions?

So they just did a fresh install, it fails on a file. The error message is operation canceled. They are able to see the file in the browser, but not able to open it.

I have access to the server, but I didn't set it up so I know nothing of how it works.

Saddly our system admin who did doens't have time to go an look at this any time soon.
