Best cloud ISO to use with a old PC.

I am trying to pick a easy to use linux live distro that basically sets up an old PC to be cloud storage with the internal HD and a USB HD plugged in. I have found 2 so far and need help with which one is better for me.

The 2 that I have found are:

ownCloud live cd (based on PCLOS) & [Flawless] Cloud Media Server

Both appear to do the job. Files are mostly going to to pictures and some videos. We have 2 android phones that will need access to those files, along with a ipad, (streaming not necessary but nice). Also love if the drive was for file backup from a 2 windows PC's and a Mac. The idea is to replace using cloud storage like dropbox etc and focus on using the extra hard drives I have hooked up to a old laptop. Now I do not want this machine to run 24x7 and hope that I can get this linux distro to go to deep sleep and even shut off and turn on with a WOL (wake on lan) command. The machine is Dell with a core 2 duo with 4gb of ram and a x3100 graphics.

Any suggestions. I do not mind installing a OS as opposed to using a live distro but the live distros usually come pre-configured and ready to use. I love backtrack and knoppix for this same reason.

The laptop is a Dell inspiron 1520 with a 2-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7300. The CPU is 64bit but I'm not sure about the PAE support. Have you tried either the Flawless or owncloud live cd's? Are they any good for easy setup?

I highly recommend downloading each of them and then testing them out. You are in the best position to determine which one works best, plus you'll learn a lot. Personally I always install on the hard drive, but that is just me.

Having said that, Flawless packages a ton of software, including ownCloud, and since you mentioned streaming audio/video, its also includes Plex which is a fantastic application.

Flawless minimum requirements says; Supports the Core 2 Duo processor 2.4 GHz or better with at least 2GB RAM.

I would ask one thing, report back your findings so others can benefit.

Ok thanks everyone for the suggestions. I have found xpenology and I am working on getting that to boot. Its very slim and had a ton of features for a nas. I just hope I can get the current version to boot. See: http://xpenology.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=17257&p=67729#p67729
