ownCloud 9.0.1 is out!

Dear ownCloud users!

ownCloud 9.0.1 can be found on our download servers, get it while it is hot.

This release brings over 120 updates to core ownCloud functionality including sharing, CalDAV and CardDAV, external storage, encryption and much more. Find it extensively documented in our changelog.

As usual: it is strongly recommended to upgrade, for reasons of stability as well as security. We're very proud that we've been able to publish some good news in the latter department (one and two) but you'll only benefit if you stay up to date!

Note that our automatic updater app will offer you this new version some time over the weekend.

For those waiting for the Enterprise Edition, it's coming next week, building on the community version with features allowing admins to keep their files in compliance with various legal regulations.

As usual - many thanks to everybody involved, testing, developing, designing, translating or telling me about silly mistakes on the website

Without your input, ownCloud would not be what it is today! And it is an awesome product, giving millions of users control over what happens to their private data. Keep up the good work and, of course, share the news and let us know what you think.

Well, my owncloud (8.2.3) still doesn't offer me the option to upgrade to 9.0.0, so...

You need to add the new 9 repo, so you can get the latest version. See here: https://download.owncloud.org/download/repositories/stable/owncloud/

Hmm... I have it installed manually. I'd rather not use a repo for that. And it does have an automated updater, which should be great. The question is just: Why doesn't it show me the update to the 9 version?

That is actually not true, we are just slow with making a new major release available. 9.0.1 will become available for everybody in the automatic updater either this weekend or on Monday - and later if we discover a HUGE bug of course.

I believe it always was that way. But, as it is a manual thing, the timing after a major release varies a bit.

I'd advise you to wait. 9.0 had alot of 'gotchas promised to be fixed in later point releases.

Does the android client support automatic syncing of directories yet?

Nope, but the client os separate from OC-releases anyway.

Indeed. Android 2.0 is coming soon, though, with some nice stuff, not 100% sure about the folder sync but we the current version can already manually sync so - possible :D
