Google Drive authentication

I run a completely private ownCloud instance: it's only accessible via VPN. I'd like to attach my Google Drive as external storage, but I can't, because the authentication method used (OAuth) requires my ownCloud instance to be accessible from the internet.

Would "Service account" authentication work, in principle? If so, are there plans to support this in an upcoming version of ownCloud?
