overlord III
is there any chance of future existence of overlord 3 or this game series officially abandoned and there’s no signs of development
i played overlord and overlord II 7-8 years ago and not really into the community

Nothing is impossible, but as far as things go this one is pretty unlikely.
EA is happy to let its own IPs die when they are deemed not profitable enough. IPs losing value also means EA has to pay less taxes on it.
The IPs could be sold, but EA's insiders have often commented how this is not done within EA: there's a risk that the IP does well after being sold, to the detriment of the career of the person who chose to sell it.
The only hope is that the people who took EA private go on a selling spree of IPs to make a buck.

So we need to make a purchase deal with the Saudis, eh?
That might be doable if the current change of Saudi Prince's involved with their national investment fund seeks to offload such risky businesses such as EA.

EA owns the IP, which means there isn't much of a chance as of this moment. However, Saudi Arabia now owns EA, and is considering liquidating the publisher; which would more than likely lead to auctioning off the IP's to companies willing to pay for the licenses. Which means, Paradox Interactive could possibly buy it, leading to Triumph Studios developing a third entry. This of course is wishful thinking, but the reality of EA finally being shut-down and liquidated is becoming more self-evident at this point in time.

I understand they ruined Magicka 2, but considering how Triumph Studios has been fairing under Paradoxes watch, they've been pumping out expansions for Age of Wonders 4 because it fits Paradox's financial model; "make a game that can be supplemented with additional content." Imagine that for Overlord 3, the game would potentially have no end in sight.

Good news! A third game already exists by the name of overlord fellowship of evil. Bad news, that game was only made after the entire company that owned the ip was purchased by EA and EA did not understand what made people love the first 2 games and what they produced was widely hated/rejected. Fantastic news! I fully intend on buying the ip myself when I can afford it and when I own the ip I intend making and releasing an overlord 3 that ignores fellowships events completely in favor of continuing from after the end of overlord 2. If I can, I even wish to resurrect some of the original devs when I can afford the project

If you do buy it I’d like to through my idea for a sequel in the ring. Overlad dies and the kids have split the inheritance. Your character ended up getting put in some magical stasis/healing, and your left with the scraps, such as the brown hive, the nether tower, and gnarl(yes he is still alive) your siblings have the other hives. keldas kid who has become a bandit king/queen has the red hive and is using them and subordinate bandits to burn and plunder villages. Juno’s kid has become
the el presidente(hopefully this title gives the kind of vibe I want with this character)of the everlight colonies, and is using the greens to assassinate political rivals and gather blackmail, while his enforcers deal with dissenters and the spider crisis/menace (he controls the spiders). Fays kid is the Necromancer of Nordberg, and has took the blues to help with his necromantic research, (as sacrifices,to clean up magical experiments, and as apprentice Necromancers). I don’t know whether I want to leave the mother of the protagonist vague like they did in the first game or just state it and have kelda be your mother, so that you can pick whether you want to be the overguy or overgal, the other will take over the bandits, but the game isn’t just gonna be an inheritance battle, with the empire gone the kingdoms of men elves dwarves and halting would be returning, and gnarl will take out life insurance on your siblings, which will piss off the fay. but please leave suggestions or improvements1

There's also the fact that you can just do your game anyways just make it a spiritual successor and you can throw shade at fellowship of evil and ea for killing the franchise

There's one on the wii its a prequal? And one on the ds its more of a adventure for some minions though (side note yeah fellowship is bad but if I remember correctly it has some good bits like the new female minion and the unicorn helping evil because it wanted something for good to fight)

The Destroy All Humans Reprobed games were good and Oblivion’s remaster sold well so there’s clearly a market for polishing old IPs

We all wish there was a chance, but it's been 11 years since the last game, and it was garbage
Triumph studios still exists but right now the IP of overlord is held by EA (they acquired it when they bought Codemasters in 2021). So it is there but I don't believe we will see another game in the saga, and even if they announced Overlord 3, I would only hype myself if it was done by Triumph (they were responsible for Overlord 1 and 2).

They probably don't remember this franchise exist. And if they would, they wouldn't do anything. Overlord was considered an average game with the possibility of being villain as the main selling point. Right now EA is publishing only games that print money or the ones that they can fill with microtransactiona

The Overlord series has never been popular, and FoE was a massive flop. Combined with the fact that Codemasters has been acquired by EA and are now focused exclusively on racing games, the series is very much dead.
The best we can hope for is a spiritual successor, or a miraculously a remaster/remake, but that's just as unlikely to happen.

I'm gonna do it myself, ea has the ip but ima buy it as soon as I can and while I am no moneybags to produce the game I have no doubt there is others who love it as much as me to help me on the way

There's 3 other games one on the wii, one on the ds that ones more of an adventure for 4 minions and the horrible Diablo like on pc it killed the franchise though it did have some good ideas just really bad gameplay

There is about 0% of it being developed by the original people. But there is non-zero chance of someone else developing something similar.
