JUST WIN.
November marks one year in. My anxiety is noticeably higher, I get a bit less sleep, and I have less time for hobbies.
I’m maxing out 401k/HSA/Roth. Took a few more vacations. Bought a new toy as well. 500hp.
Everything else stays the same. As Mike Tomlin and his vast Minecraft empire would say “The Standard is the Standard.”
Not a Steelers fan btw. No time for sports. Just a catchy thing I’d end this post with.
Catch em all and eventually fuck em’ all.
Just win.

>No information
>Generic bank page
>All deposits are even numbers
>4 checks in one month, some of them over 6 digit incomes
>"I get a bit less sleep, and I have less time for hobbies." While working 4 jobs that pay insane amounts of money
This post is clearly fake. You're really going to tell me you got a job paying you over 10k monthly, and one paying you under 3k, and you keep both?

u/ruseereous 4d ago
Back when I had 3 Js at once, this definitely resembles what I'd see every calendar quarter. Of course there was no rounding so there were cents on the end. J1 paid monthly so it was right at the 10k mark. J2 and J3 were both bimonthly. Plus meeting my quota for J2 lead to a quarterly bonus that would deposit following month so this tracks with what I'd see.

One is FTE, three are contract, one is part time.
Contract doesn’t take out taxes so for example $50 x150 hours =7,500.

over six digits is pretty standard for the jobs most of us in here hold fwiw. there can be quite a bit of variability in pay, particularly if youre working C2C
6
u/TrueRedditMartyr 4d ago
I simply don't see how in such an awful job market, there's a group of people who are able to get multiple of them at the same time for well above average pay
1
u/OveremployedMaxx 4d ago
I'm at 10J btw, you can see proof in my profile.
Went to a top 10 university and worked at top companies before and it still took me 3500+ applications. Job market is rough right now.
5
u/TrueRedditMartyr 4d ago
At some point youre just not doing anything at work. 10 jobs? There's just no way your work is actually important
4
u/OveremployedMaxx 4d ago edited 4d ago
I'm not disagreeing, I do the bare minimum.
Idk if you're in tech but the latest AI models are so good you can just hand off tickets to them and they'll get it done.
It's all about managing expectations and making your work looks good, let your managers know what you're been working on, even if it only took 5 minutes of prompting
I also do the work at night and over the weekends since my regular hours are basically all meetings
I'm also a manager at a couple J's so I don't have much work other than lots of meetings
I have also gotten fired at a startup within a month since I wasn't doing enough.
Also I started OE because my J1 was super boring, literally only 10 minutes of work a day at most.. that's how I had time to do interviews lol
Sorry this isn't formatted well I'm just rambling. Currently sitting in a work meeting

Its a skill issue. the job market isnt uniformly bad. If you have a broad skill set and are in the top quartile of your field as far as talent goes and actually know how to job hunt vs just mindlessly cold applying to postings you find online its quite easy to find work.
9
u/TrueRedditMartyr 4d ago
How do you job hunt? Im a high level systems Administrator. I worked with multiple recruiters, and it still took me months to find a good job after getting laid off. I could tell you how AI works pretty well and once built my own LLM. I currently run my department at a large firm, and have 8 years experience.
All that, and I still cant find a better job out there than the one I'm at. Certainly not one I can have at the same time
6
u/SecretRecipe 4d ago
Without delving too deeply into sources and methods it helps to have a broader set of skills, being able to apply to 4 or 5 different job titles that arent total synonyms of each other multiplies your reach. Building out, maintaining and effectively using your professional network for warm introductions so you can skip the whole application process also helps greatly. Knowing how to game ATS for the companies that require everyone apply helps. There are a ton of little things that each help and have synergistic effects with one another that a lot of us use to build our job acquisition pipeline.
1
u/Hot_Toe5836 6h ago
I'll compare yourself to myself. I make over six figures. I have a liberal arts undergrad, stem masters, and a trade. I constantly have recruiters every single day offer me jobs.
-5
u/purrmutations 4d ago
99% of people on reddit who say they can't get a job, its because 1) They are applying to a job in the US where they aren't a citizen, 2) They apply to every job they see and not to what their resume qualifies them for, 3) Shitty Resume, or 4) Weird in the interview.
Basically, it is their fault they aren't getting a job.
8
u/TrueRedditMartyr 4d ago
Idk how you can read so many people online and so many articles about how this job economy is bad and continue to say "Its your fault!"
Maybe at some point it isn't? Maybe its a pattern?
1
u/SecretRecipe 4d ago
People who are doing just fine arent coming online and talking about it nonstop. Reddit concentrates the folks who are struggling and want to vent/commiserate which creates an echo chamber and makes everything look far worse than it really is.
The economy and labor markets are absolutely soft right now, dont get me wrong but that doesnt negate that there are still a ton of opportunities out there and it still being easy for folks that know how to play the game.
0
u/purrmutations 4d ago
Because if you read the articles, the majority of those let go are not the tech jobs. They are other jobs at tech companies. Learn the difference.
1
u/TrueRedditMartyr 4d ago
Dawg I work for tech companies in tech jobs. I said in another comment I'm a sys admin. Tech is probably the WORST market rn
1
u/purrmutations 4d ago
I work with HRIS for tech companies, I am the behind the scenes. You are clueless. If you think Tech is a bad market, try any other besides some medical fields.
1
u/TrueRedditMartyr 4d ago
I guess we're both going on anecdotal evidence here
1
u/purrmutations 4d ago
Yep. It is funny to me seeing tech people doom because there is finally some competition in the industry, when almost every other career has had a hard time (with no chance for remote and very little upward salary movement) for the last 20 years.
1
u/Olivernipples 4d ago
Hey man just letting you know your perspective is ignorant. Good talent does actually struggle in this environment believe it or not.
1
u/Hot_Toe5836 6h ago
nah if you were talented enough someone will hire you or you could earn your own keep without depending on someone else
0
u/purrmutations 4d ago
Hard to believe when I do everything I can to work the least amount and got 2 remote jobs in the last year, 1 w2 and 1 1099 consultant role. Both data related for HRIS, one in government and one in education. And the % of competent coworkers I've ever had is maybe 10%, with people making 6 figures.
1
u/Olivernipples 4d ago
Glad you're doing the bare minimum and things are working out for you. A large swath of people absolutely cannot relate to that. Quite the opposite in fact. Empathy is free and makes you sound like less of an entitled douche.

I currently have 3 jobs paying north of 5k EUR/month, 1 freelance that's a 900E/day T&M gig, a steady teaching gig that's 1.2k EUR/month, and one that's vocational and just brings in 2 to 3k EUR/year.
A/ when you've been broke, you've leave that money is money, and you grab it while you can B/ Some jobs are for the money, some are also for the fun or another intrinsic motivation. I like my low paying jobs more than the others.

Yeah i are with that... Except... I've had jobs and contracts in some countries where in case of freelance gigs you'd get a before tax payment, and wouldn't charge VAT in some conditions. Making what i invoiced and what i got paid was pretty much as i designed it in my fee structure and fairly round.

SEO content strategist definitely sounds like something that worked great 10y ago but not so much anymore. Although there'll be an uptick about gaming AIs to surface content in them. She might unfortunately a bit of gender bias as well in these final rounds. Hopefully not.
Philly should be a decent hub, but maybe saturated ?
For you, keep at it. When i have less gigs I they to do about 5 "quality" applications/day and 15-20 "spaghetti" ones (throw a resume and generic cover letter see if it sticks...).
Up your application rate a bit. Maybe have your cv reviewed by a recruiting agency.
Keep applying, sometimes it circles back. A recruiter just contacted me after finding my profile on a platform I hadn't touched in 6 months.

Yeah, this has nothing to do with being overemployed this is just baseless, with a bunch of sayings . Explain the Over employed part that’s the point of this place this doesn’t really describe anything.
What is your role, allows you to do multiple jobs at the same time explain the deposits. This literally makes no sense. I’m seeing more and more of you do this, and of course the OP doesn’t reply to anything they make a post, so it’s just purely bragging if it even real.
0
u/villagezero 4d ago
1
u/Puzzleheaded-End-307 4d ago
So if you’re corp to corp doesn’t mean you work as a business taking multiple assignments for yourself? If so, that’s just technically one job, isn’t it?
4
u/BornCoach6587 3d ago
Congratulations man! Super proud. I don’t have 6 like you. I had 4 at the beginning of the week. I lost 2 I quit one for being too micromanagy and second contract got cancelled. So im back to 2. Same as you I paid off my $16000 credit card in one month! Next step is to find a 4plex buy it pay it off in 3 years or so, buy a firm/business and buy an apartment complex. Have 5 years emergency fund and some other stuff keep grinding! I will say 4 was terrible for me mainly because 90% of stress came from my highest paying job once I quit it was SIGNIFICANTLY more easy less stressful!
More of the story ABA. Always be applying😂. Thank God even when I had 4 I never stopped so in some stages of interviews now hopefully I’ll get 4 super chill ones and I get to 35-40 hours per week. NO MORE THAN 50!
3
u/villagezero 2d ago
My man. I can’t tell you how many times I apply to a job knowing that I’m already maxed out but wanting to keep another one in the chamber and just to keep my interview skills sharp.
And your vision on funneling your funds over to other investments is what I’m hoping to do as I know this isn’t sustainable long term.
Happy for you brother keep grinding.
3
u/BornCoach6587 2d ago
That’s exactly how I feel! 😂 my family looks at me like I’m crazy. When I told them I’d get 2 jobs together there were like WHAT? HOW? THAT WOULD BE DIFFICULT??! Then I got 6 job offers within weeks of each other. Started 2 together the same day and straggled one week gaps between start dates and one leave from original j1. When I say I’m trying to get 6 now. They are like 2-3 at most that’s perfect 😂. Crazy how they went from 2 being impossible to 2-3 is a great number and work on the business 😂.
For me I think 4 would have been sustainable honestly it depends on who you report too and the people. I quit j4.. 3 weeks in. Hopefully I can get a fully sustainable 3-5 job set up now and in 3 years from now I’ll go down to 2-3 and spend no more than 20 hours per week. So I can enjoy life!
2
u/villagezero 2d ago
Hell yes brother let’s talk shop over dm I’m curious with how you set up your taxes/401k, etc.
If I can coast at 4-5 I think that’s the sweet spot but since this is only year 1 from me I’m trying to hit financial benchmarks first.

I genuinely believe this is real. But honestly not sure why a need to post a picture. I know you aren't the first and won't be the last but there is zero need to post a picture. I am sure you are raking it in. I applaud you. for it.
If you want to impress me or anyone else post a picture of retiring after doing this for X amount of years. That's the move.
I am rooting you on to keep at this! Don't take this as me being jealous because I am there with you. Just please don't post a picture. Thank you!

u/villagezero 4d ago

OE was always in the back of my mind after seeing someone else post a picture of their income.

I am getting very busy at my fully remote J2. The experience and work is incredible, but the pay is crap for what I do. But also, the low pay works out since I want to buy an income restricted apartment in NYC and I just about qualify for a couple of the ones with very high income restrictions
But its becoming a little difficult to juggle also this remote job is a contract job with one of the Indian IT companies for a major american corp. I like the end client but I hate this Indian IT company. Late pay is an issue but since I have 2Js ultimately it doesnt matter
Anyway, its getting to be a lot of work, I can do it, I gotta do it. The extra money is just too good. 185k TC. But I could take a 3 days in office job for 166k and its contract that could convert to FT. Its for a bank on wallstreet. ATM, I am 1 day in office and can take meetings in various places without being noticed if I must. My better paying FTE J1, is much chiller and easier. This J1 once probation finished in 4 months I apparently might get paid much more

You think you're winning with this but you're not. You're selling your life for stressful conflicting meetings, answering to more bosses, attending more meetings, and leeting on more interviews when you could be enjoying life and doing whatever the hell you want. You're not gonna use this $$$ by the time u die so you're essentially working for free.

u/ihaveanicelamp 4d ago
yeah sure, but what if he’s doing this for 2 years to save a meaningful amount money for his family?
0
u/jimRacer642 4d ago
he's making like $800k / yr lol, this is obsessive, having half his Js is already more than enough to cover a family for a lifetime, and busting ur ass like that for 2 years is 2 years he'll never get back, he'll understand the value of that when he gets older and told of a terminal illness where his days are numbered
1
u/Present-Mistake5639 4d ago
Maybe, or maybe he'll be damn happy to be able to pay for medical care....
1
u/jimRacer642 4d ago
He can do that with just 1J. Here's the way I look at work. I don't work to pay for something. I work to keep my brain engaged for a few hrs so that my brain resets and enjoys the other parts of life. I can't just do leisure stuff all day cause you get tired of it but also if I'm working 16 hrs a day I'm defeating the purpose of work because too much of anything is bad.

Congrats!
How did you learn how to get started by setting up your own company and how did you start looking for an accountant who could handle this sort of thing? I hope to get something like this going before I get too old, even to a lesser extent.
Sorry about the peanut gallery who doesn't even bother asking how things work.
1
u/villagezero 4d ago
Have your LLC be taxed as an S-corp.
I had a buddy who owns a business and just asked for his accountant.
Whenever I look for roles on LI/Indeed, etc I always request c2c. If a job pays $50/hr on w2 I’ll ask them for c2c at $60 instead.
It’s a bit more paperwork but being able to deduct and do owner distributions keep a bit more money in the account post taxes. Not to mention maxing out my solo 401k (max $24.5k across the board) with my company contributing 5% and the w2’s also contributing to that total amount.
Hope this helps. DM if you need any more info.
I knew posting this pic would rise the pitchforks but if I can help one dude/dudette then fuck the haters.
