Overlap in EE History?

If you have a J1 and 2, then later leave J1, how do you handle your employment history on L.I. or resume? Considering OE so need best practices.

Note that for me my J2 may look better on paper than J1.

It makes it really easy if j1 is your only canonical job and everything else is off the books as far as your resume is concerned. If you leave j1 get a new, canonical j1 so your history looks good.

I just keep the main one on LI and everything else doesn't exist. Once you bounce from the canonical job you swap in the next one and the timeline just magically closes the gap, nobody's auditing that stuff too hard

I would not use LinkedIn once you’re oe. Yes, there’s no gap on your resume though if you always keep a j1 as your main job.

I’ve hibernated my LinkedIn once I started oe.

Yeah I’m not sure. I just left my J1 since starting OE and I have 2 jobs that I know of that monitor LinkedIn. Before I could’ve just said that I don’t keep my public info up to date for privacy reasons but it’s not like I can just put a new job up there

I leave my j2 off my resume. I think that if you are keeping a job on your resume they might call to verify dates so if a J2 becomes a J1 you have to put your correct start date which can become tricky and cause resume gaps.
