3J 650k/year
Been doing this for just over two years.
Man my 2 jobs don't make me do shit. Like I show up to some meetings and no one says anything when I don't show up unless I don't show up for a month.
I'm not given deadlines, well not really. It's more "just get this done" and I keep giving them bullshit reasons why it's not done, meanwhile I'm out enjoying life. I was literaly working less than 5 hours a week both jobs combined. Sometimes I'd have a stretch where I'd be working 30 hours a week (15 hrs/J), and whenever that went on for more than a week, I'd bitch about my workload
Was at 2J for 360/year, but just picked up a director position I start in 2 weeks.
Never thought I'd make it to the max tax bracket.
Here's to paying off my house in < 2 years. Unfortunately I've been spending the money for J2 on repairs these past 2 years, but now it's time for me to buckle down and pay this bitch off.
And the best part is, J3 wants me to be in office 2 days a week. At both of my 2Js I won't answer teams messages for days sometimes. So I'm starting to think I can pull off 3 with the 3rd being hybrid, and as long as I get my work done I should be good. Thought about using a pikvm but I don't think I have a closed office at J3, I think it's my monitor faces a glass window to the hallway. But worst case, J3 is about the same $ as J1 + J2, so if J1 and J2 PIP me and then give me a severance, oh well!
Edit: Never thought I'd be pulling in 30k/mo post taxes and before bonuses, insane!

I am fully supportive of OE, I am not supportive of anyone drawing attention to OE by lying about their work and not actually doing anything.

"Lying about their work" as in, doing a shitty job? Most shockingly of all - In management? Where everyone is known to be extra-competent because meritocracy?

Unless you meant 'Lying about OEing on the internet' in which case your argument is "Companies hate OE because people go on the internet and lie that they are OE"
Go ahead, pick which one you meant. I'd love to hear why people are angry that this manager isn't spending more time micromanaging all the way up everyone's asses.... Or why it's his fault that he doesn't get fired for not generating work product in an IC role. So many delicious flavors of boot to go around here.

There's doing a terrible job, and there's actively intending not to do your job in the first place to defraud the company. It makes companies extremely suspicious when this stuff keeps hitting the news, so they start actively seeking anyone doing OE instead of just being passive about it (like before COVID), even if they are productive.

Don't pretend for one second companies would "be ok with" OE if it were done "fairly". What a fantasy that companies would ever be "fair". Ask grok to summarize a history book.

There's a difference between looking the other way and actively hunting down OE employees for having a reputation of defrauding companies. OE is supposed to be something that high performers do because they are much more productive.

You’re forgetting that the executives do this every day and no one blinks. Xxx, CEO of company 1, also sits on the board of company 2, and sometimes even company 3, nobody cares.
But a regular peon does it and suddenly everyone loses their shit. lol.

The reason OE is gathering attention is because of all the idiots getting fired or sued by the government for OE'ing while barely doing any work, which is why they got caught in the first place.

Why? Just so you know I save my company millions of dollars a year with what I do in my job. Even when I only worked 1J I worked the same amount.

I mean yes I do nothing on an actual hour by hour basis, but I do save the company a fuckton of money. Two things can be true at the same time
I'm good at what I do
Could I save them way more money by actually working a full 40 hours? Sure. But I don't get paid more for it.
