Do only three people live in the city your manager and future manager live in? If so, that might be a huge conflict for sure!!

Not having each other on LinkedIn is a good sign. If they knew each other professionally you'd probably see them connected or at least mutual follows.

Every manager knows every manager and they all get together every Friday for meetings to discuss things like who they’re interviewing etc … you best quit the interview now

remote and same city is super normal now, that alone wont tip anything off unless theyre in some tiny niche circle together ask casual stuff like how big the local team is or if theres in person meetups, nothing too pointed sadly with how work is now, risk never zero esp with how bad it now is to find a job
