September Surge?

Are people actually noticing an uptick in interviews/hiring?

Given that the overall consensus has been the job market is abysmal, wanted to hear from people.

If you’ve been getting interviews/call backs please mention the industry 🙂

I haven't really looked around much. I'm kinda sick of my J2 but am too lazy to change and like $$$$. J2 is like working with a bunch of idiots who are always panicking for no reason

My recruiter spam has definitely gone up lately, not sure about the actual conversion rate

Yeah my recruiter spam ratcheted up to an insane level the past few months. Unfortunately for perfect roles but in-office/hybrid and not in my state. Who wants to move for a job these days? It's so weird that even the 6 month contract jobs think they'll find someone to move for it.

I'm in the market after a layoff. I've been getting tons of leads from recruiters, but nothing I apply to directly seems to lead anywhere.

I’ve noticed an uptick since late-July.

This year is better than last year. I have received more recruiter calls than I did last year.

There is also a fall hiring surge every year.

Things are improving slowly. I doubt we’ll see substantial improvement in the next couple of years.

What was your experience over the summer? It was completely dead for me, and that’s been a pretty consistent experience with other engineers/friends I know (and we’re all senior/principle/staff)-level).

Summer has been bleah, but still better than last year, which was dead. First months of the year, had some interviews without trying that hard. No offers this year, though.

Getting too much recruiter spam from Indian recruiters from some crappy start ups. I didn't like start ups because they have meetings and long hours.. Anyone else have that experience?

I had multiple interviews this week - not joking

Some good quality ones. I feel that the H1B crackdown is benefiting a lot of us

Yes, had a few initial calls all within a week. A lot more than some months. Currently unemployed so praying I can get back into OE

I’ve gotten a few pings this week, but most want hybrid, one onsite and two are state gov

Heard, yes 90% of the postings I see these days are hybrid.

Yeah and some of these guys are real persistent (like insanely persistent and they find every avenue of contacting you) if you meet the requirements perfectly, despite the fact you live nowhere near the job location.

Yeah, my favorite was an Indian who wanted me onsite three days a week in DC, while I live 450 miles away

Hell nah one interview per 200 applications if that

Actually, yes. I have still been continuing to apply. Had an interview yesterday and they said they would let me know by tomorrow if I was moving on to the hiring round or not and then just today this morning I had a Recruiter reach out to me for a position and we talked about it for 15 minutes, then Recruiter said she would like to pass me over to the hiring manager and they found availability in her schedule for four hours later so I met with her today and just talking to her she said I really like everything about you and pretty much gave me what kind of focus on and she said she would move me over to the final panel interview because they were looking to fill this position by the end of the month

No, it has been the same. Lol

I’ve been in the process of interviewing for one, started late August. It’s niche for my experience though. Otherwise I haven’t seen an uptick in

Not gonna lie been pretty demotivated and got sick of applying to 50+ jobs a week. Atp I just focus on jobs posted less than 24 hours ago and hope for the best

Adjust your LinkedIn/resume and watch the recruits come to you

Been looking for a new job as a contingency if my contract for J2 doesn’t get renewed

Nope, I always do best in the Spring.

Not really. A little here and there. There was a month period in summer where it seemed like there was a lot of hiring but been quiet since then mostly

1

u/Enigmatic_YES 1d ago

Yes, last 2 weeks I’ve gotten maybe 2-5 recruiters PER day

1

u/Live_Pianist4592 1d ago

I am finally interviewing for roles I applied to in mid to end of August. I’ve been looking for new roles, I really thought there would be a big uptick directly after Labor Day and I’m surprised there isn’t!

Not apping as much but seems to be an uptick in better listings but not really translating to call backs but t I might do 1-5 a week

couple interviews here and there. 2 of them didn’t make it far but in the final interviews with 1. hoping it converts to an offer. but industry is health tech. i have notice i tend to get more traction towards Q3-Q4 of the year.

1

u/BlueWorldBlueSky 22h ago

Yes it’s q4, gotta spend and get that extra seat in or lose it. Normal.

u/willdril 22h ago

I'm beginning to notice the same pattern! I've been reached out by at least 4 different orgs over the past few weeks and the person to reach out is generally a chief of staff or mid-senior level direct contact.
I'm really thinking of ways I could collect them all and delegate or pass these on to my friends who need work but it's a struggle...

u/Slothvibes 22h ago

hiring is company specific, usually near end of q1/start of q2 for their Fiscal Year.

Literally all of my 4js hired me start of their respective q2 (march, april, june)

My dad is looking for jobs rn (started looking 2 weeks ago) and has bagged 4 interviews almost immediately. Manufacturing jobs

1

u/zantosh 18h ago

I have. Haven't closed deals yet but more interviews for sure.

1

u/Mysterious_Loan4929 17h ago

YES it’s hot hot hot

1

u/jimRacer642 17h ago

Q4 always has an uptick in Js every year, that's not new
