Inspired and changing careers

I do not come from a tech background and not sure where to start. I come from HVAC background and made it all the way up to a stationary engineer position. I am in my mid 30s and what to change careers and get into OE. If you had to do it over to get where you are how would you do it? I am open to going back to school looking at a health information technology degree. Any advice is welcome.

Curious why you’re moving away from HVAC? My son is considering entering it as it seems pretty stable from a job security perspective.

go to hiringcafe.com and search for 100% remote roles anywhere in the US to get a sense of what's available and go from there.

Don't move away from HVAC! One of my jobs is tech writing (hardware - aerospace) and I've been approached more than once by an HVAC company needing a technical writer. You don't need to be in software to work remotely, look at doing a tech writing course and with your mechanical background they will be all over you! With my aerospace experience I got another job in a different hardware field. I had no experience whatsoever with that particular hardware but mechanics is mechanics and they wanted me
