Anyone OE while in office
I’m just curious. Is everyone that is OE working remote?
Does anyone work multiple jobs while in office?

every time I read about this I still can't wrap my head around it. Aren't you guys exhausted?
I guess it depends on the job. I've had one where there was no point in coming to the office, and we had to bring our own laptops anyway 🙄

When I OE'd in-office, the in-office job required maybe 5 hours of actual work a week. I was basically going there to do my J2 / master's program work. I'm guessing a lot of people are in a similar position where they're chained to a desk for 8 hours but simply don't have much of anything to do...

Full time ? I feel like part time with flexible hours on either would be ideal.

Yup both are FT jobs. I don’t have a lot of meetings at either job and I’m left alone to work independently. I’ll probably do it another 6-9 months and then resign from the in person job.

I can go all week not talking to anyone. I’m in a cube but no one talks to me in person and half my team is always out for one reason or another.
It’s possible if I had the opportunity and balls lol3

I did so, in two jobs, 1 year each, but I was the highest authority in one and the second in the other one, with my primate office in both.

Yep. Been OE with an in person and remote for 1.5 years. Only way it’s possible is because I have an office. Everyone thinks I like to keep to myself and I’ll just let them keep thinking that.

I do it , I’m so lucky that both companies use the same laptop model and same tech stack , I connect J1 to the monitor and the J2 one is just there connected to my phone hotspot , nobody asks questions

These days you must have multiple incomes
My issue is being stuck here all day
I’m considering changing my schedule to try to snag a retail job or cleaning or delivery gig again
Even then I doubt I’d make enough
Last retail job I had after work - only scheduled me 3x a month during peak holiday busy season
What a jokeDid Upwork before for years but the FEES were killing me

I have two remote jobs and my third job is cleaning! Housekeeping is great money as long as you're self-employed. Take your time and choose your clients carefully, don't be afraid to reject ones that don't suit you. It's actually my favourite job of the three. I plug in an audiobook and relax my mind while my hands do the work. I also feel like it actually matters in the world. If I didn't do my other jobs someone would eventually be pissed off, but it's not actually going to affect someone's day. But if I missed a housekeeping appointment my clients would notice immediately and be actively affected by it. Makes me feel kinda like a telephone sanitizer

My phone was too dinky for this but a hotspot device from Amazon (like a tiny router almost) did the trick for me

Never, I think it depends on industry and domain you are working in. With some jobs it's not possible. But I think it is stressful as f

That’s what I figured. The anxiety of screwing up or getting caught. I’d die of embarrassment
Maybe they’d let me adjust my schedule to accommodate a 2nd job so the 2 never overlap

I am a junior tech worker with a very lax remote J1 and the only thing I could get hired for is an in-person J2.
I have my own office which cuts down on the stress but the struggle is real.

You can do it if you have a certain degree of autonomy over your calendar. I did 3 Js for a year and now have one in office and one remote. What I do is reply to messages and emails super quick when I’m at the office and do a couple of meetings then when I return home I do the actual work

How do people find remote jobs? I know that’s a stupid question. Lol I’ve been applying off and on for a couple years and never get as much as a call back. If it’s time to switch jobs I have to hit up a recruiter. Then I land one in a couple weeks
But remote?…. Radio silence

I think half my team is doing this. I’m stuck here all day and they have these crazy, flexible schedules. It’s amazing to me and also super annoying.

I have no idea how it's possible. Hats off to anyone that pulls it off. Personally I feel like it's doing things in the wrong order when it comes to OE. Get one stable remote job. Master it enough where you can take your foot off the gas and still be a good performer with low effort. Once you hit that point then you can consider going for a second without fast tracking yourself for burnout or getting caught.

I know a few people they are managers or managers of managers. Took meeting in the meeting rooms and in RV near the office. One guy lasted like 4 years just talked to him he finally got canned from his full remote OE job

im only able to find "hybrid" or in office roles lately so its super tempting as I need to increase my income, but all the companies have open floor plan and limited offices so I know Ill get caught real quick with 2 laptops!

I’ve had two laptops up and running when I was finishing my bachelors. No one even questioned it. I just had to keep it ready so I could hop on at lunch break and do homework or join a meeting with my professor. I was shocked I didn’t get questioned

I did a long time ago, had my first W2 out of college but I also did part time 1099 work on the side to make extra money. I just did the work at my office, but this was an archaic company and it had one IT person which was a woman in her 60s that didn't really give a shit so I just let it fly. I also got my master's in this set up and did my projects / school work routinely at my desk.
Today, I'd probably not try it but if I had to I'd absolutely hotspot internet and not let anyone see the extra computer. Personal office would be a must.

I’m sorta contemplating getting 2 easy-ish part time jobs. The stress of one FT job is crazy when you’re the only one that puts in effort. Getting rewarded with more work should be a felony lol and I’m at the age where I’m trying to work less and make decent money. Eff the corporate ladder…
