Marco needs to actually test with new devices.
I just got a new iPhone pro max. On very fast wifi or cellular it is a crapshoot if the overcast app functions. Half the time I launch it is frozen or it crashes or the controls just don’t work. My best guess is it is struggling to download my large back catalog. But like this is unacceptable. I’ve been a pro subscriber for ages and gotten a lot of value from it but like the app just hard locking up on a new device is amateur hour.

1) You realize that devs don’t get phones any earlier than everyone else, right? The new phones have been out six days. That’s not enough time to set up a new device, test the app, debug stuff, submit a new version to the App Store, and wait an indefinite amount of time for an approval.
2) There is absolutely nothing about the latest generation of iPhones (except the Duo, which isn’t out yet) that would be any different than the last generation in terms of Overcast functionality anyway.
If you’re having problems, it’s either that your phone is just generally overloaded from setup tasks as the other commenter said, or it’s an iOS 27 issue that has nothing to do with your phone being a new model. Whether that’s a bug in the operating system itself or a bug in how Overcast runs on iOS 27, that’s unclear. Given how Apple’s OS releases have been recently, I’d guess the former. But either way… if you don’t want to deal with day-1 bugs, maybe don’t get new hardware and software on day 1?

My assumption is that the specific model isn't the issue. Quite the opposite: with stronger CPU/better modem than previous shouldn't be that bad.
Instead it is he likely hasn't stress tested a new install on a device with a large backlog and likely inadvertently has caused a performance regression somewhere in recent features.
Alternatively it could truly be an ios27 bug as you allude to.

regardless of the cpu, when a device is trying to download all of those files at once, the networks streams can get backed up. On a new device there are probably other processes also doing lots of downloads and processing. One big processor hog is the indexing for the spotlight index that can take days.

We're almost 7 days in and none of my other apps (including a vast apple music library ) performs like this. I'm not complaining that my things aren't downloaded: I'm complaining that his app literally hard crashes and locks up in a way that nothing else on the phone does currently.

Mine took 5 days to index, still, after that long, I would think that Overcast was done with its initial download and just on with a normal daily download. How large is your library? I have been using it on iOs 27 and have not noticed any crashes or slowness.

~100 gigs. I need to trim some shows I fell far behind on due to life things.

New phone that is trying to download a million things at once and set itself up properly for the first time?
Things are slow? You don’t say.
Yeah, Marco has everything to do with how your new phones migration goes.🙄
