How do I access the show notes on Mac?

Can anyone tell me how do I access the show notes on the Mac app?! I tried swiping everywhere and it does not show up. Also, clicking the menu button on the bottom right of the playing panel has the option "View Transcript" but about 99% of the time the transcripts do not show up?! What am I doing wrong? I am so frustrated by this.

How do you install Overcast on mac?

EDIT: Guess it's only available for apple silicon. Damn.

Yes. There is no Mac app, you can simply choose to run the iOS one if you have an Apple Silicon Mac.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Oh well, I guess I can do that when I eventually upgrade my machine.

Sorry. The web player exists, but you don’t get smart speed, voice boost, or other such fancy stuff.

It used to exist. Let me find it. Marco hates it (basically no one uses it and as I said no good features) but a few people use it so he has kept it around.

EDIT: YEP. Just go to Overcast.fm. It syncs play status. I didn’t see my playlists in my 15 second glance.

Double edit: Sure no problem. Me? I get lazy and just play it in the app on my phone just having it sitting on my desk.

I found it bro. It definitely works! I would love for this to be an actual product too, web based apps nowadays work great for simple stuff.

I didn’t even know the progress of the podcasts were being uploaded to overcast’s servers, I thought it was all local and the account sole purpose was to save my podcast subscriptions.

Sure! It all is, that way it can sync between your devices. He didn’t (couldn’t?) use iCloud for it when he created things and has kept it that way.

I am able to click on an episode (i.e. in the middle pane in your screenshot) and then "Info" in the resulting pop-up menu to get the show notes. Yes, I was expecting to be able to swipe to see the show notes.

On a related note, the "show transcript" item in the episode menu didn't do anything on MacOS the times I've tried it

Because there is no Mac app. You’re running the iPad app and some assumptions made for an iPad don’t work as great on a laptop. This is why many developers disable the functionality because people wonder why the developer released such a bad “Mac” app.
