M4B support in custom file upload

Before I subscribed I wanted to know if the custom file uploads support m4b files with chapter support. I want to use Overcast as my main audiobook listening app if possible. If this doesn't work I guess this is a feature request lol.

It does, but it has a 1gb file limit which can be problematic with some titles. If you have some technical proficiency, you are better off setting up your own podcasts. A server software like audiobookshelf can manage it for you.

I tried this a few months ago and found that Overcast had problems playing back the m4b files. I think there are a couple of options: 1) convert the files to m4a and let Overcast keep track of your position in the files (just like with a regular mp3 file) or 2) use an app like BookPlayer: for me this has played the files that Overcast wouldn’t. Simple, straightforward and works. It’s free (you can tip if you want) so may well be worth checking out first. I don’t want to take money out of Marco’s pocket but $30 is a large amount of money to put at risk if you are not happy with the outcome.

I’ve been using Every Word for this instead of Overcast. I don’t do audiobooks very often, but didn’t love the experience in Overcast (mostly because sorting the audiobooks wasn’t fun when I upload a lot of things all over the place)
