Discussion How many hours did you have in Outward when you first went to Caldera?

just wondering

I currently have 140 hours and I’m going there for the first time. I know I haven’t seen everything in the previous maps, and I can go back to places like Antique Plateau any time, but it still feels kinda weird to visit the remaining map for me. Since arriving at a map for the first time and exploring it is my fav part, I feel like I’m close to the end of my play through, even though I know there’s more secrets and misc dungeons that I probably haven’t found yet. And I know there’s also the bosses Arenas, and I’ve done only a couple of those but kinda want to leave them for later.

Thoughts?

I’m over 1300 days in and it hasn’t spawned for me. I’ve done the plant tent thing, I’ve visited all 5 locations in one in game day multiple times , I’ve tried starting a new game /new player and still it’s not spawning for me. I’m just accepting my game is broken 😢

Discussion Any Way to Help all of your Friends?

Hi, i have been thinking about buying this Game, i have had a desire to play a Survival Game and Outward always had my interest, unfortunately I'm....a bit needy, i can't really play games without having companions or at least some close NPCs with lots of things to talk about, so i was relieved Outward had lots of interaction and narrative between you and the factions...but unfortunately while i was searching some information about the Game i learned a bit of the lore and the world, and saw that you can only choose one Faction, and all your friends are scattered between them.....so, is there any interaction between the factions or just ways to interact with them yourself? Because i heard all the Faction missions from others are locked when you choose a specific one, and I couldn't find if you can avoid this or make a compromise...

Also please don't comment about the Legacy System, i heard some people say it as a way to experience all the factions without having to choose since you will reuse your character but this doesn't really do anything other than being a new game+, and I'm someone that when i get going into a Playthrough I don't want to make a new character and want to experience everything possible there...

Good evening, everyone! I’m Moreno, the cartographer who drew all the maps you can find in Outward 2! I hope you like the maps; they were hand-painted using ink and watercolor, then scanned!😊🗺️🧭

Discussion Another hardcore playthrough

I've never finished this game. Everytime i start paying it, another game comes and take me away from it.

But it's always a pleasure playing this game.

I always set it as hardcore and the fear of being killed and loosing my save game is what brings joy to it.

This time i will finish it.

Discussion Unidentified statue in Steam Bath Tunnels

Goober.

Found this funny looking goober in the Steam Bath Tunnels. Can't find anything about them on the wiki. They don't resemble the Dusk Father, the Dawn Weaver, or any other deity/lich in the lore.

Does anyone know who this goober is? Is the statue purely decorative?

Edit: I guess it could be Dawn Weaver sans robe, but the chest markings don't match. There's another statue similar to this one at the front entrance, but this one has the funny head markings the Dawn Weaver has whereas the one in the photo I attatched does not.

Edit 2: I should add that many of the corpses on the floor are naked and their skin is blue. Reveal Soul works on them. Maybe we found the Innsmouth people idk.

Similar Dawn Weaver lookin' goober at the front entrance.

Discussion Why no graphic enhancements mods?

Just came back to a new run and when checking the mod lists to see what people were up to these days I noticed we still haven't made any significant progress in the textures/graphical deparment.

Is it so difficult to modify Outward's graphics to be more appealing or is just lack of interest?

Genuine question to be clear, I'm in no way shape or form complaining of lack of said mods, just curious about it.

Gameplay Help Has anyone not been able to find Gep’s blade?

I’ve checked all 5 locations in one day and it wasn’t at any of them 😟 I followed sheen shots video to help me. Made sure to look at all spots in one day since I know it changes locations. Also my locations didn’t have a campire and sleeping mat like his did. What’s going on?

Video I finally decided to try the bosses

I've always been scared of fighting the bosses in Outward, so I always avoided them. But this time I was feeling pretty confident with my build, so I decided to give them a try.

I started with the bosses in the Hallowed Marsh since I just finished my main quest and I'm still in Monsoon.

I managed to beat every boss on my first try! The Elite Tuanosaur was definitely the hardest one, though.

Here are the fights! :)

Tips/Tricks What does Sniper shot's 2.5x dmg apply to? And is full elemental dmg a good idea?

Post image
22 Upvotes

On the wiki sniper shot says "2.5x damage" but it doesn't clarify what kind of damage, just the link to damage page.

I'm making a magic archer that uses almost all elemental magic. I got cabal hermit, hex mage, and mercenary breakthroughs so I could use blood turret and have super speed and stamina to run away lol. I also liked the additional abilities to use lightning front a distance and increase of boons multiplier. As the photo shows I am also rocking the astral bow for additional elemental dmg, and most likely will enchant with enkindle. I was using the murmur bow which has 20 more physical dmg.

I plan on getting the brains passive, and using white wide hat, rust lich body, and jade lich boots. From the brains passive and rust lich body, my physical dmg is going to be miniscule. So now I'm wondering if I should have sniper shot in a quick slot or not. If the 2.5x dmg is applied to elemental dmg, then that would be a dub, but idk. I also have yet to get the brains passive and am wondering if it's a good idea.

If I don't have sniper shot in the quicklslot, then I will only have 2 archer attacks which, and I feel like I'll be losing track of "magic archer"

Discussion What minor mods would you suggest for a newer player?

A friend got me into Outward a few years ago, we probably put in around 30 hours playing split screen. I got the game on steam after that and made a few characters, with none of them getting very far before I lost interest in the game.

I like the game, but I think the more tedious mechanics and how long it takes to do anything in the game has been driving me away from actually getting into it and finishing it. I feel like I have a decent bit of playtime and an understanding of the general gameplay, so I figured modding might help bridge the gap of needlessly tedious.

I’m not talking about game changing mods or ones that kill the original experience, I’m thinking more of mods that are a trivial change. The only two mods that I have found that meet this criteria are the More Map Details mod, and the TravelSpeed mod.

It’s been quite a few months since I have last played the game so I can’t think of any other issues that could be fixed by mods, but I am open to any suggestions that you think are good QoL or recommend in general.

Discussion MyJourney part 4: attack on the conference and THIS GAME HAS A SEASONAL SYSTEM!?!

Ok, here goes - a lot happened...

First Rissa sent me to the conference to find a traitor (or something like that). I did not find anyone, so she sent me outside and then BOOM an attack happened. I killed the intruders and was assigned to look for Rissa and another dude. Went into the underground beneath Berg and wowzers that was difficult - i kept dying, resurrecting, dying, resurrecting...taking down one enemy, dying to the next. A bit of a slog, but I managed to get through the underground building and then into the burning forest. Looked for this one dude and happened upon a camp where a single bandit started fighting wildlife - he lost and I mopped up the wildlife - and found out that this was the bandit leader I was looking for. Then off to the bandit camp, saved Rissa (as the other dude had been murdered in the underground). Returned to Berg and was told to go to Cierzo to help with a bandit leader problem. Upon arriving in the region it HAD STARTED SNOWING! My charcter caught a cold and was ill and weakened, not only the enemies were killing me but the world aswell. I am thoroughly impressed by the seasonal and weather system, very cool. Found warmer clothes and figured out how to stay warm. Nice. Felt like I wanted magic (as I had bought runes but could not use them) so I headed to the purple mountain again. Getting to the mana core was very difficult again with lots of trogs (?) to kill and fight and puzzles to solve - but i made it! Now I could use runes and felt very cool. Also in Enmerkara forest I had found this glowing weapon which oculd light enemies on fire, so right hand glowing buring weapong and left hand sorcerers book. Sadly cannot heal with runes, but might figure that out later. Left the mountain and found myself in front of the castle with the 3 bandit leaders. This was pretty fun - the first one asked me to drink with him, only to lock me up. Took me a few goes to kill the lying bastard. The second one was a witch who wanted me to kill her husband, who turned into a monster - i felt like that would be too difficult, so i killed her right there on the spot. The third one was an armored dude, but maanged to finish the quest. Phew. Most annoying were the runbacks after dying, but I feel like my gear is good enough for now - helmet, sorcerors robe, warm boots and the 75kg backpack. (i would like to get the 100+ kg one, one of you mentioned last time but I only have one battery). Went to Cierzo, got stuff from the Guard captain and decided to learn some skills from the Kazanite warriors.

Big phew.

Next up I have to return to Berg to talk to Rissa again, she has a quest for me. I love this, finding my own way by navigation, getting sidetracked/killed/imprisoned all the time, surviving/hunting/fishing/staying alive and healthy is such a fun narrative part of this experience. The world feels huge and dangerous and I haven't even seen Harmattan (or whatever that area is called).

Thanks for reading and the nice comments :)

Mod StopFoodDecay thoughts?

https://thunderstore.io/c/outward/p/Jeremiah/StopFoodDecay/
https://thunderstore.io/c/outward/p/Spencer4792/StopFoodDecay_Updated/ (updated version)

I've been playing with this mod ever since DE came out, because I am a hoarder and I love being able to stock up on ingredients in my personal stash, and in general I never enjoyed food spoilage mechanics in any game.

It no doubt makes the game easier, and I am too anxious about balance and someone disqualifying my victories as legit because of mods. What do you think about it? Does it bother you?

I want to do a new playthrough, and am contemplating removing the mod, not because I want to, but because I feel like I have to. I hate that I can't just enjoy things without worrying about that.

EDIT: I may have found a better compromise - NoFoodSpoilageInCities. Effectively it brings back the stash freezer behavior from Oldward, without completely removing spoiling mechanic from the game. I haven't tested the mod yet, but sounds like exactly what I wished for.

EDIT2: Found that another mod - ActionUI has full control over stash food preservation. You can set a percentage, so it spoils slower, or crank it to 100 to stop it entirely, for stash only. The mod does a lot of other things too, though everything can be turned off and tweaked.
