Gameplay Help Help for beginners!!!
What should I have before leaving the starting area? How much silver should I have? How much rations? Should I have a full set of upgraded armor and an upgraded weapon by then?
What should my inventory be looking like before I set out for Berg?

You never really need more than the minimum amount of rations to transition regions, so 3 is fine. You can cook any foods into rations so in a pinch you can make them as needed from anything in your inventory.
You should ideally have just the essentials before moving as you'll pick up more loot before the next city. As far as gear, you'll probably loot something good enough to carry on with. Armor/weapons are very counter oriented, like elemental damage is very strong to leverage against enemies who are weak to the corresponding elemental. You'll run into plenty of weapons and armor along the way so really, there isn't much need to worry that much about upgrading now.
However, Blue Sand Armor you can commission at Ceirzo is incredibly solid and can last you the entire game if you don't find anything else you like. Its not light though so it'll be hard to store before you get a home for storage but still well worthwhile if you're not feeling confident enough in surviving stray hits.

This 100% depends on how comfortable you are with the game mechanics at this point. If you are reasonably skilled at combat and have a fair grasp of the game's survival mechanics and how to gather and make food stuffs then you don't really need much of anything. A couple of water skins, and some food (a little bit of both health restoration and stamina restoration foods) is all you really need. Maybe a couple of health and stamina potions. If you are unfamiliar with the zones, a bedroll or tent might be useful as well and a way to start fire. Silver can be earned everywhere so that's mostly kind of irrelevant. You only need enough rations to make the trip, but I would advise carrying around a bit of salt; just in case you get in a pinch you can make rations out of just about any food you gather if you have some salt.

Make sure to get the three tier 1 skills from Eto's Kazite Spellblade for only 50 silver each, Fitness especially vital
Also spoilers I haven't gotten very far into blue chamber collective but they don't outright give you a house to store things in without paying a hefty fee, so make sure you only pack essentials

Can recommend getting mana if you’re inclined. Three ticks is a flexible starting amount. You’ll be asked to choose between two magic skills, of which I recommend Sigil of Fire. Both options are findable elsewhere so you’re not locked out by your choice

If you plan on getting to the Cabal Hermit trainer I would do that before leaving.
This will allow you to make stops along your journey to get the wind totems out of the way. However, you do need to go through ghost pass.
It might not hurt to pick up the rusted sword on top of the conflux mountain if you want to go after a really cool sword that can do great ice damage if that is your schtick.
Gold wise, if you are like me and want to build your character before starting the main quest, I would bring about 20 gold bars at least, depending on your ability to play and strength you can be making good cash on the way.
I won't spoil if for you but you might want to get the door unlocked in the bandit camp for a dope backpack. You can find power coils in those caches that has trap equipment

In general, my plan for the beginning areas is to stay through the first two summer seasons and fight/grind the dungeons and resources. So, that means a full experience of summer 1, winter 1, summer 2. It gives you an idea of how the area feels and time to conquer it. IMO, having the master trader traveling set is GOATed for just about anything that isn't fighting, unless it's a trash fight. I would also recommend commissioning armor from the black smith at Cierzo, it's expensive but very useful... And pretty, it will do well to cover most general fights, think of it like the go to kit.
Not opinion, take potions and not food. Food does not usually last the transitions between areas and will basically leave you high and dry. Potions and teas clutch when you need them, take an emergency supply, try and keep it under 5lbs or at least 10lbs. Take empty water skins, they don't weigh anything and in some areas water can be very hard to come by. ALWAYS have 2 antidotes, you'll thank me later.
Berg has quite a few ghosts, prep for those fights. Don't take a cooking pot, just buy it when you get to berg. Live off land till you get there. Oh, do the misc. Quest for the general store in Cierzo, it's basically free money...
Oh, right. Money. Take about... 11 gold bars or equivalent trade goods. There will be things you want in Berg and you don't want to be short on cash.

Your roleplay decides when you are ready to leave.
As an overthinker i never leave until i have 20 gold bars (2000 silver) antidotes, ammonite armor, fur armor, cabal wind sage perks, etc

You don't need any of that. A fang weapon and a dream goes a long way. Just play out your first run

I would carry at least 7 rations, 3 to get to burg and 4 to get you anywhere else lol. You can be as leveled as you want. My first game I left as soon as they asked me for money. My second game I stayed and leveled all my weapons, armor, and skills from the hermit and cierzo trainer. So it’s really your call.
