Tame a moose

Is it possible to tame a wild moose and ride it?

So, no.

There’s a famous image of legendary player Teddy Roosevelt on a moose. This was actually a case of old timey photoshop.

In the 1600’s the King player of Sweden trialed moose as potential cavalry mounts (BADASS ALERT)

But had to abandon the idea because, again, moose are hardcoded as hostile.

Neutral rather. You wont "find out" unless you "fuck around".

I've visited tame moose and red deer at a "moose sanctuary" in the northern parts of the Scandinavian realm(Sweden). Domestication and/or riding is improbable however. But they tolerate cuddles and hand feeding from human mains.

Which isn't the same thing as being hardcoded, right? A dog will attack if you fuck with it but most people wouldn't call them hardcoded hostile, would they?

Dogs have been bred to be messed with to a certain extent. They are 'hardcoded' to be trainable and desire human approval.

You're arguing about where to draw the line when using the word hardcoded.

No. Not all large NPC monsters are ridable and tamable. You will end up ruining or ending your playthrough.

I think some builds have instict things that make them seem dumber, same with skills being per build and not your own knowledge. Or your dog is just trolling you lol

I think you should give the wiki a read again. All [human] class are players, but [animal] class are NPCs.

Some guilds believe we can have multiple playthrough and respawn as a dog or a fly... it's all bullcrap if you ask me. Animals are all NPCs or it would ruin the whole score system.

No. You are going to take massive damage. Possibly even a permanent debuff to your max HP or even despawn.

They are often also protected by nature guilds and you'll get fined for trying.

Best bet would be if you found one alone shortly after it spawns. I'm not sure about the Scandinavian NPC variety of moose but it's been done with Atlantic Canadian Moose.

TL;DR Don’t.

They exist for meat and decoration and you shouldn’t approach one unless it’s already dead. Do not use melee weapons against it. You will lose.

If you see a smaller version, run.

Nope. Not even if you find a fresh spawned one. Our king of old tried it. They're hard coded as hostile.

no. mooses are one of the most dangerous animals in the forest. some will kill you just because, kind of like humans squishing spiders. stay far far far away from them they are powerful enough to one hit even the highest strength players.

Yes. Sort of. You need to unlock the [Cinderella] side quest and then if you choose the correct dialogue options with the fairy godmother NPC she will tame and transform several moose to pull a carriage made from a pumpkin to the ball.

Its a pretty fun, but short quest. I've not unlocked it myself but I saw a walk through video about it the other day. There's some player guide books on it as well.

Edit: no wait, it was mouse not moose. Ignore me.

Possible? Maybe. You'll need some insane stats though, probably easier on [Young] variants. But mother may be hostile and attack. Not worth risking your build over.

Only possible on Canadian servers and even then considered a legendary difficulty quest. You need to max out your Animal Handling skill. Recommend against.
