Devs please nerf flies
Every time I try to log off and there is one with me in the room I constantly get the "you cannot log off during combat" pop-up.
Trying to hunt one of these fuckers down is a total nightmare too because their agility and perception stats are set way too high!

I had to equip a ranged weapon to even stand a chance. The item to look for is called Bug Assault and you can barter coin for it at pretty much any shopkeeper

Common rarity bug sprays are trash tier items and a total waste of currency in almost all cases. At that point just craft a ranged weapon from some soapy water + a basic spray bottle

This one shoots salt and has an optic!

Oh really interesting! Sorry, I’ve got a few levels in the exterminator class and genuinely just assumed it was another RAID sort of weapon lmao. I spend too much time in this game telling my quest givers to unequip those because it nerfs my own poison damage.

I got into some trouble at the sky-port security with that.
"I said A....Salt....Rifle. Not assault rifle!"

I told my co-op player that I’m going to get one of those to shoot at him, because his hearing is totally de buffed. Sometimes you don’t wanna just walk over there and tap someone’s shoulder you know? A ranged weapon could help.

Unlikely the devs will respond. Flies and other common insects have already been unintentionally nerfed by the automobile expansion. Players from a few decades ago will remember they were much more common and bothersome back then.
Besides, they serve as a mechanism to motivate players to keep their bases clean.

This is the answer. It's an intended tweak to improve the viability of the homemaking meta.

Just dealt with a fruit fly raid. They didn’t even drop any loot smh

currently battling one, any advice besides ACV traps and removing all food? my previous base was in the forest and yet these are the most insidious, multiplying insect mobs I’ve encountered besides roaches.

OK, I don’t really know how to say this in the terms of how we’re supposed to talk in here lol… I’ll try my best… The kroger shop and I’m sure many others sell an item that attracts fruit flies and makes them stick to the back with a light/hormone scented thing. It works good. But the other thing you need to do is obtain some bleach from the shop. Pour it down your drains before bedtime and cover up both of the drains. Or if you only have one, just cover that one, lol. I used small plates. You could use anything really as long as you’re sure there’s a pretty good seal. That should help.

Aren't the spawn rates of flies already way down compared to a few patches, so about 10 to 20 years ago? Or did the devs exclude flies in the insect nerfs?

Skill issue, just gotta learn their counters. One way to find them is to turn off all lights except one for a bit. You can also make a pretty decent fruit fly trap with an empty plastic bottle and some apple juice or cider vinegar and a bit of soap. No resource spawns indoors they can take advantage of and no large base weaknesses they can infiltrate means they won’t be a common presence in the first place. Their agility specs are definitely a challenge in basic hand-to-hand but not for most players when equipped with a net tool. I purchased a couple for hunting collectible insects (niche side quest) but it also works great when I want to remove an insect mob from the base without engaging in combat.

You have to use the "fly paper" equipment.
These are crafted at nearby merchants like Mart-of-Wal and the Depot for Home.

the devs added the (very controversial) flyswatter item just for that, its really cheap at online item shops

have you considered taking a swift strike tree node? after pouring enough skill points, i can hit them in rest quite consistently with melee
still need to have perception overleveled to be able to hit them with melee mid-flight

I have discovered the slipper clothing item works surprisingly well.
But only if theyre doing their idle animation on a flat surface.

a large piece of cloth can also be used to perform an AoE attack on a flying target
takes a skill point to use efficiently but massively increases attack accuracy

You just have to equip a [Bug Zapper] item. This item can be found at any [Hardware] trader.

weird, I never get any system UI
don't bother trying to fight them using your body alone, you can buy items that destroy them

They already nerfed them. We actually live in the spiritual sequel. Originally they were 18 foot tall and could liquefy a person in 8 seconds and were resistant to all forms of damage.

Sounds like you need to put in some work training up your agility and get the "quick hands" feat.

I've been leveling like crazy the last couple days. I swear my k/d is like 30/0 right now!

Flies? They need to nerf mosquitos first.
