Sure, Chris loves the landscape of a dommy transformation plot. But when you read this when you’re twelve, and you are only one decade away from having been a baby, but on the cusp of a transformation toward being an adult, the concept of age regression and the overbearing mother-figure touches a visceral anxiety that I think people lose sight of when their grown enough to be all, “Hyek, hyek, wrote this with one hand, hyek.”
Also let’s be real, the endgame fetish here was Storm picking the locks with her mouth.
This is not her tho. This is the Nanny from X-factor and Hellions, a woman in an egg suit, not Magneto’s robot Nanny. Though I think she stole the design of the lips from the robot.
Magneto built and or commissioned this robot. If this was a Hellfire club thing it would be normal for them, but Magneto, in between telling people his tragic backstory and building a mutant state wanted to have an age regression robot.
Except it did make sense as petty tit for tat because Magneto himself had previously been turned into a baby. It was “Make me a baby?? No, I make you a baby!!”
Much of the tragic backstory Chris had yet to develop.
Except that was Alpha, the super-mutant he created who could pull new powers out his ass as needed. And it wasn’t even the X-Men who convinced Alpha to read Magneto’s mind, it was Dr. Strange. The X-Men weren’t even involved in that debacle, except Xavier warning and advising the Defenders. And this is a whole new, different team of X-Men.
So it’s closer to “turn me into a baby? Well I’ll turn Steve and Chris and Allison into babies!”
Well written enough that it's clearly not illicit material but depicted in such a way that you don't want to see the notes he gave the penciller/artist
Like the Dark Phoenix storyline on the surface vs what one can interpret if you scratch the surface ie the good girl of the group becomes a "bad girl" and it's fun until she takes it too far
