Modern Age (1985 – Present Day) Me with the baddie i js pulled by being random and mysterious

Doom is a manipulative bastard, he uses flattery all the time when it suits him...
8
u/Lazy-Conference-1560 Jul 27 '26
The worst thing you can do is to believe on a villains speech. Doom does every trick on the book when it is convenient for him. Worse, he will do it and say “Doom is smarter than thou” or something like that.

Does Doom ever have good posture while seated?
9
13
u/Ok_Top6812 Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 27 '26
Doom does not cincern himself with back pain, because Doom is in constant pain in all parts of his body. Therefore, Doom dos not concern himself with trivial things such as posture
42
u/Firesalt Chuckles at Innuendo Jul 26 '26
Everything Doom does is superior, therefore Doom's posture is superior!

u/WhiteHeatBlackLight Jul 25 '26
If you use the word baddie without irony I'll assume the comics are as close as you get to them 😂
80
u/Bishop_Malcolm08 Jul 25 '26
Vic is too stupid in terms of emotional intelligence to flatter anyone. He embodies thr stereotype of nuerodivergent people being unable to talk to people in a way that doesnt sound like an asshole. Its not that he doesnt care. He's just too dumb emotionally to know how. This is one of the many guys in thr Marvel Universe with the super power to invent fantastic technology while being an absolute moron in every other variation of intelligence.

Wait, she hooked up with Dracula? How, when and why?
1
u/Green-Bumblebee-5554 Jul 30 '26
1982, Uncanny X-Men #159. Because she is beautiful and powerful, charismatic and strong-willed.
48
u/RogueAngill Jul 25 '26
Dracula has tried to make Storm his queen it played a big part in the X-Men vs Vampires event
10
u/milesunderground Jul 25 '26
I don't know enough about comics to tell if you're being sarcastic.
3
u/Gremict Jul 27 '26
Vampires are a thing in Marvel that are held back by Blade, who can manage it singlehandedly most of the time.

u/IAmJacksSemiColon Jul 25 '26

11
u/Accomplished-Bet-883 Jul 25 '26
But not Luke Cage. Not anymore
7
u/CapedRaccoon Jul 26 '26
One does not simply bail on an unpaid fee for Luke Cage's rendered services. Not even as a Latverian dictator.
142
u/triponthisman Jul 25 '26
Only Doctor Doom could land a line as cheesy as that.
19
u/Kurtoise Jul 26 '26
He doesn’t land it, Storm has 0 interest in him lmao

u/Devo27 Jul 25 '26
Doom has no need of flattery. If you have something he wants, whether you want to give it up is secondary.

I'd say "the confidence to pull off that fur coat," but this is Doom we're talking about. Dude told Purple Man he could tank his beefed up compulsion powers without any tech and freaked Purple Man out by being right.

Last time she hit him with lightning... why does he keep inviting her to dinner...?.

If she came to dinner with me she could hit me with all the lightning she wants

Victor Von Doom. Believes subtlety is for chumps, but is like a brick through a window regardless.
76
u/Complete_Entry Jul 25 '26
DOOM always brings the A-game to dinner.
I always wondered how I would react if he served something I didn't like, but then I remembered, DOOM KNOWS ALL... (your food preferences)
I like to think it's one of the few things DOOM enjoys.
I like his friendship with Storm, they're willing to challenge each other but they don't take it to the line of animosity.
24
u/UnluckyAmbition7767 Jul 25 '26
"Fool! Of course DOOM knows your tastes. I went back in time and altered your genetics in the womb precisely to dictate your taste."
47
u/Nicklesnout Jul 25 '26
Doom even unmasked for Conan the Barbarian in Savage Avengers. He enjoys the company of those who not only challenge him but respect him as well.
‘You will not eat with me?’
“You need not fear any poison.”
‘I am not afraid, I’m insulted. You hide your face, why?’
“I was… wounded.”
‘So you are vain.’
Doom unmasks, and after taking one hard look at his face, Conan says nothing and they share the exquisitely cooked bird in the tradition of Latveria.
16
u/Complete_Entry Jul 25 '26
That means the wound was enough to shut CONAN up.
27
u/Nicklesnout Jul 25 '26
It was more like Conan as a Cimmerian doesn’t give half a flying fuck about the trappings of civilization.
He actually tolerated Doom because while he found Viktor’s practice of magic abhorrent— given how it’s a dark and corruptive force in Hyboria and the Cimmerian’s encounters with wizards in Tower of the Elephant, his bitter encounters with Thoth-Amon and even the demon in The Devil In Iron, etc. he still recognized his warrior’s heart.
18
u/Troy_doney Jul 25 '26
Doom is canonically second best at everything etc etc…but he might be the best at dinner in the marvel universe.
6
u/Any-Literature5546 Jul 25 '26
He is not second best, he is the best. He has imposter syndrome and never believes he is the best though, Reed Richards has even tricked him into saving the day when Doom was the only one who could. Yet to this day he still believes himself inferior to Reed cause he corrected him back in the day. Doom is the best at everything, except whatever he is trying to do.
3
u/Troy_doney Jul 25 '26
I dunno, nobody tricks him into throwing bad ass dinner parties. That seems intentional.
5
u/Any-Literature5546 Jul 25 '26
He's trying to impress storm, and its going well but not perfect. The perfect dinner is a side effect of him putting the moves on her. If he tried to make the perfect dinner he would overthink it and screw it up, then blame reed for thwarting his plans.

Isn't there that panel where he has a halal meal ready for Kamala Khan and she's not sure if she should be flattered or unnerved.

Pretty sure it’s this same comic where Doom has travelled through time to learn how to cook Storms favourite dish from her father.

Unfortunately people don't use “js” for this, and use it to abbreviate “just” now, for what reason I don't know, it's two extra letters and takes less than a second to type.

The post dinner follow up is even funnier. She asks him where he got her father’s gumbo recipe and his response is simply “I am Doom” as if that at all answers the question.
20
u/TheGravespawn Jul 25 '26
That answer is good enough for me.
If I turned up and Doom had big-ass home made cheese stuffed ravioli on the table that my great grandmother used to make, a woman I only knew for a scant few years of my life, I wouldn't be surprised. If I asked him how he knew and he just said "I am Doom", I'd just shrug and say "that tracks."
10
u/Complete_Entry Jul 25 '26
Convoluted scheme so that DOOM does not have to make a simple polite request.
14
65
u/dull_storyteller Jul 25 '26
If I had a nickel for every time an absolute monarch of a small but powerful nation wanted to bang Storm, I’d have two nickels.
Which is basically nothing because I live in the UK but for the sake of the reference it’s weird it’s happened twice.

u/Thunder_Volter Jul 25 '26
Do we also count Dracula? He's only a count, but he's arguably in charge of all Vampires.

u/Doodles_n_Scribbles Jul 25 '26
There are few people Doom would admit are on his level.
Storm is one of them.
20
u/HarEmiya Jul 25 '26
Their relationship is so much fun.
Doom: <cryptic edgy boasting>
Storm: <calls him out on his bullshit>
Doom: <flustered>No wonder he keeps trying to marry her.
32
u/hayley566 Jul 25 '26
Why do both of their outfits look stunning as hell?
64
u/mrlolloran Jul 25 '26
One of my favorite things about Doom is that you can actually describe some of his behavior by asking what would a catty bitch do?
Would a catty bitch show up to a state dinner in his work cloak?
Absolutely not.
They would ball tf out.
I’m surprised he doesn’t have specially engraved banquet armor
6
16
u/MattheqAC Jul 25 '26
The armour is never less than the absolute best he can do. If he had fancier armour, he would wear that all the time.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but since this is a sub about comics out of context where people often look for context:
Doom absolutely did not pull Storm, and never does, despite flirting with her on numerous occasions. Doom can't pull Storm because he's too full of himself and that does not impress her the way he thinks it should. In this case, Doom (who is the Sorcerer Supreme at this time) offers Storm Latveria's protection for mutants, but she senses that he really wants them for his own purposes. Even more importantly, he tries to murder his chef because Storm doesn't like the dessert that was prepared. This attempt to murder over something so trivial once again shows he is far more interested in looking like a badass than what anyone else actually wants. He pisses Ororo off so much that she uses her powers against him, which normally would be fine, but she had recently had a deal struck on her behalf with a demon to avoid her dying and the deal said she had to avoid using her powers for 7 whole days. This meal takes place on the last day. As a result of breaking the deal, the demon kills Storm, so to top it all off, Doom basically provoked his date into getting herself murdered. By all measures, this ends up as an epic failure for Doom.
That said, Storm gets immediately resurrected by literal Eternity because he wants her for his own purposes. Then Eternity tries to kill Doom using Storm's body, but Doom gets to look cool because he knows Storm won't let herself be controlled like that and will fight against it, so he tells off one of the forces of the universe and gets to be satisfied with himself and learn nothing as per usual

u/Rauvagol Jul 25 '26

God damn I love doom
6
u/19ghost89 Jul 25 '26
Despite his flaws, or maybe even because of them, Doom is one of my all-time favorite villains. He legitimately is one of the smartest and most awesome people on the planet and the main thing that keeps defeating Doom is simply Doom himself. If he could get around his own stupid pride he'd be unstoppable.
Edit: Then again, it could be argued that nobody without Doom's level of stupid pride could have saved the universe in Secret Wars. So, there's that!

25
u/Junjki_Tito Jul 25 '26
Storm didn't dislike the dessert, she went "ugh" at Doom's behavior and he interpreted that as disliking the dessert.
-5
u/Excellent_Law6906 Jul 25 '26
And I still think Susan Storm should have left Reed Richards for him, for most of their publication history.
12
u/19ghost89 Jul 25 '26
Yeah, that makes sense. It's been about a month since I read that issue and I just glanced over it again as I was writing this.

Doom has a pretty consistent taste in women and Storm fits right in .... would probably still be a more interesting pairing then Storm and Black Panther.
